Join us and make a difference too!\nJob Title: EHS Associate Consultant/ EHS Consultant\nLocation: Rockville, MD\nContract: Full-time, permanent\nBSI Consulting Services is a trusted and agenda-shaping partner providing ‘best practice’ technical, regulatory, and business expertise and intelligence for our clients’ most critical EHS risks and opportunities to achieve greater resilience, impact, and future-readiness.\nAbout the role:\nBSI Consulting Services is hiring a Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist to support the EHS department at a client site in the Rockville, MD area. This is a full-time position with benefits, located at a biopharmaceutical laboratory and research facility.\nResponsibilities:\nAssist with laboratory inspections; observe, document, and investigate unsafe work conditions. Work with laboratory personnel to develop JHAs and determine project-specific hazards and risks.\n\nIdentify and manage occupational hazards and environmental risks, lead incident investigations, conduct risk assessments, and create/document corrective and preventative actions to ensure a safe workplace. This includes initiating and leading regularly scheduled safety meetings with senior management to move beyond safety compliance to proactive identification of hazards and risks.\n\nProvide oversight for chemical management, review new chemical approvals, develop chemical storage and segregation schemes, flammability limits, etc. In addition, conduct periodic review of hazardous chemical inventories for permit compliance\n\nOccasionally conduct lab safety training for newly hired employees and scientists needing yearly recertification (new employee orientation, bloodborne pathogen, Safe Start, etc.).\n\nAssist with Large Quantity Generator requirements and contingency plan if site waste limits continue to grow or exceed SQG threshold\n\nAssistance / consulting on spill response and clean up, and local reporting to outside agencies (if necessary).\n\nImplementing biosafety/hazard communication/chemical safety programs\n\nDeveloping or maintaining management systems\n\nAssist with site compliance and monitor ongoing mitigation strategies for worker safety during the COVID-19 pandemic (monitor population density, social distancing, face mask use, cleaning, and sanitizing practices, etc.)\n\nExpertise and experience in EHS regulatory compliance.\n\nProvide oversight for chemical management, review new chemical approvals, develop chemical storage and segregation schemes, flammability limits, etc.\n\nTo be successful in the role, you will have:\nBachelor's degree in scientific or EHS related field\n\nPrior consulting or EHS experience.
