Further details available on application.\nAbout the Opportunity\nBSI is looking to appoint experienced fire protection professionals to join our team as Freelance Associate Auditors, undertaking third-party assessments at commercial and industrial client sites across the UK.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in fire protection systems, installation and auditing to utilise their technical expertise in supporting the assessment and certification of fire safety installations.\nYou will undertake assessments across a range of fire protection disciplines, including:\nFire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems\nEvacuation Alert Systems\nGaseous Fire Suppression Systems\nKitchen Fire Protection Systems\nWorking on behalf of BSI, you will assess client installations and associated processes against relevant BAFE scheme requirements and applicable British and international standards, helping to ensure compliance, quality and confidence in fire safety systems.\nThis is a home-based freelance opportunity involving regular travel to client sites across the UK. You will therefore need to be comfortable with national travel and hold a full, valid UK driving licence.\nKey Responsibilities\nPlan and undertake third-party assessments at commercial and industrial client sites, managing your own assessment schedules and travel arrangements.\nEvaluate installations, processes and associated documentation against relevant BAFE scheme requirements and applicable standards.\nPrepare comprehensive assessment reports, clearly communicating findings and providing clients with direction on corrective actions where required.\nMake recommendations regarding the issue, re-issue or withdrawal of certification.\nManage assessment outcomes efficiently, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.\nSuccessfully complete BSI's comprehensive onboarding and qualification programme to achieve full Assessor status.\nDemonstrate the required technical knowledge and competency through standardised assessments covering auditing practices and their application.\nRequired Skills & Experience\nWe are interested in hearing from individuals with a combination of technical fire protection knowledge and auditing experience.\nYou will ideally bring:\nPrevious auditing or assessment experience within the BAFE / fire protection installation sector.\nExperience auditing against BAFE scheme requirements.\nKnowledge of BAFE schemes, including SP101, SP203-1, SP203-3, SP203-4 and SP206.\nKnowledge of relevant British Standards, including BS 5839-1, BS EN 15004-1 and BS 5266-1.\nIdeally, a Level 3 regulated qualification in Fire Alarm Installations, or equivalent technical knowledge and practical experience to work towards achieving this qualification.\nExperience within commercial or industrial fire protection installations.\nThe ability to communicate technical findings effectively, prepare detailed reports and engage professionally with clients.\nA flexible approach to travel, with the ability to undertake assessments nationally.\nA full, valid UK driving licence.\nWhy Work with BSI?\nThis is an opportunity to work in association with a globally recognised certification and assessment organisation, applying your industry expertise to support the quality, compliance and safety of fire protection systems across a diverse client base.\nAbout Us\nBSI is a business improvement and standards company and for over a century BSI has been recognized for having a positive impact on organizations and society, building trust and enhancing lives.\nToday BSI partners with more than 77,500 clients in 195 countries and engages with a 15,000 strong global community of experts, industry and consumer groups, organizations and governments.\nUtilizing its extensive expertise in key industry sectors -
