We are now looking for a Product Certification Auditor to play a key role in maintaining product excellence across our certification schemes. In this role, you will conduct product certification assessments across varied environments, ensuring compliance with BSI’s rigorous certification schemes and Kitemark standards.

We’re seeking professionals to deliver product assessment audits across our IECQ scheme. Suitable candidates could be either experienced auditors or those with relative exposure to standards compliance across electrical product or component manufacturing. Knowledge of product standards relating to UKCA, IECEE, LVD is key for this role.

* This is a field based position that requires frequent travel across UK&I.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepare assessment reports and deliver findings to clients to ensure client understanding of the assessment decision and clear direction to particular items of corrective action where appropriate

  • Recommend the issue, re-issue or withdrawal of certificates, and report recommendations in accordance with BSI policy, procedures and prescribed time frame.

  • Maintain overall account responsibility and accountability for nominated accounts to ensure an effective partnership, whilst ensuring excellent service delivery and account growth.

  • Lead assessment teams as required ensuring that team members are adequately briefed so that quality of service is maintained and that effective working relationships are sustained both with Clients and within the team.

  • Provide accurate and prompt information to support services, working closely with them to ensure that client records are up to date and complete and that all other internal information requirements are met.

  • Coach colleagues as appropriate especially where those members are inexperienced assessors or unfamiliar with clients' business/technology and assist in the induction and coaching of new colleagues as requested

  • Plan/schedule workloads to make best use of own time and maximise revenue-earning activity.

  • Must be willing to go through extensive onboarding plan in order to reach Lead Assessor status through the prescribed program (based on the knowledge, skills and experience they have as well as the requirements of the appropriate schemes)

  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills, to include preparation for and taking standardized assessments related to knowledge and application of audit practices

  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of assigned clients based on location and a match of qualifications and client contract requirements

  • Responsible for contacting clients and scheduling the visits, planning the assessments, making travel plans, conducting the assessments and reporting and managing the results in an efficient manner.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ industry experience gained within an electrical/electronic product manufacturing environment and with an emphasis on quality management or product certification

  • Ideally qualified within an electrical engineering or suitable manufacturing related subject

  • Previous experience in product assessment or auditing, against electrical standards

  • Can travel frequently

  • Knowledge of quality management system auditing practices (ISO 9001)

  • Lead Auditor 9001 qualification would be a major advantage
