Backend Python Engineer - Clearance Required

We’re looking for multiple Backend Python Engineers to join our growing team, and we have opportunities available for engineers across a wide range of experience levels.

What you will do in this role:

• Work closely with teammates and stakeholdersin a Lean Agile environmentto build mission-critical production applications focused on data discovery and analysis 
• Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives 
• Leverage modern build tools, testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure quality and delivery speed
• Design, implement, and test backend services and APIsusing reactive programming conceptsfor production applications
• Integrate with cloud services and data platforms to expose high-value data through secure, performant interfaces
• Leverage DevSecOpspipelines, containers, and modern deployment tools to deliver software efficiently and reliably 

You may thrive in this role if you have the following skills:

• Active Security Clearance (Secret or higher) or the ability to obtain one
• Experience with source control (e.g.Git) and CI/CD pipeline toolssuch as AWS CodeBuild(preferred), Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions
• Experience designing and implementing scalable, maintainable, and OOP based software in a containerized cloud environment (AWS preferred) leveragingfoundational services for computing, identity management, and networking. 
• Experience developing backend services using Python and a modern web framework such as FastAPI(preferred), Flask, Django, or Chalice 
• Experience with testing frameworks such as PyTest(preferred) or unittest 
• Experience with Python project management, dependency managementtools, andbuild tools such as poetry (preferred), make, uv, pip, or conda
• Familiarity with APIstandards such as REST and HTTP, message-driven architectures,persistent storage layers,and distributed systems 
• Effective written and verbal communication skills necessary to perform job duties and collaborate with team members 
• Candidates must maintain a primary residence within a two-hour drive of Herndon, VA to support onsite collaboration as needed.

You may excel in this role if you have the following skills:

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability stackssuch asPrometheus/Grafana(preferred), CloudWatch, or ELK/EFK
• Contributions to open-sourcelibraries or community projectsor personal projects
• Experiencewithsearch technologies such as OpenSearch (preferred), Elasticsearch, or Solr  
• Experience working with streaming or event-driven architectures such as SNS/SQS (preferred), Kafka, Kinesis, AWS Step Functions, or Event Bridge 
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) and how to leverage DevSecOpspipelines to deliver code 
• Experience working with NLP libraries (e.g., spaCy, NLTK, Hugging Face Transformers) and integrating with commercial or custom generative AI services such as OpenAI, Azure Cognitive Services, or proprietary models.

The base salary pay range for this role is $96,900 - $247,900. This range reflects base compensation only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or additional pay incentives associated with the opportunity.
