In addition, the Supervisor is responsible for the efficient movement of product through the plant with a focus on quality and timeliness.\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nTasks related to this position may vary and are not limited to those listed below:\nFollows established safety rules, policies and procedures at all times\nDirects supervision of production staff including: training associates, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading associates to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance\nMaintains efficient workflows by monitoring processes and variables; implements cost reductions; develops reporting procedures and systems\nCompletes production plan by establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising production schedules, resolving problems and reporting results or issues\nEnsures operation of equipment by calling for repairs and preventative maintenance; assists in troubleshooting machine issues\nProvides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests\nCreates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, budgetary and personnel requirements\nMaintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing associates on the use of all equipment and safety protocols\nMaintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications\nAssists with hands-on operation of machines, including operating and feeding large press machines that requires a full awareness of surroundings, machine pinch points and safety protocols\nMaintains inventories of sheets, inks and other converting supplies\nReports quality concerns to the Management Team and assists in determining quality guidelines\nConducts weekly Production/Safety meetings with departmental personnel\nCommunicates with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changes\nOperates forklift, as needed, in tight spaces with human traffic\nOther duties as assigned\nFull-time role in a manufacturing plant/warehouse setting\nSkill Set:\nProficient in lean methods\nProficient in Amtech job costing module\nProficient in Amtech RPM module\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals\nAbility to write routine reports and correspondence\nAbility to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization\nAbility to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy; calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate\nAbility to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations\nResults-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment\nDemonstrates aptitude for problem-solving and able to determine solutions for customers\nExcellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills\nAssertive leader who holds self and others accountable\nDesired Qualifications and Experience:\n2 -5 years of experience as a production supervisor or manager\nExperience in the corrugated packaging industry highly preferred\nWorking knowledge of all production machines, plant equipment and processes, including: equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation\nCertified forklift operator\nHigh school diploma / GED\nBilingual in English and Spanish\nPhysical Demands:\n The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met in order to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:\nstand, walk and communicate with others (both speaking and listening) - regularly\nuse hands to adjust, manipulate and feel product - frequently\nreach with hands and arms - frequently\nstoop, kneel, crouch or crawl - frequently\nsit - occasionally\nlift and/or move up to 50 pounds - regularly\nlift and/or move up to 100 pounds - occasionally\nspecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus\nAbout BCI:\nBuckeye Corrugated, Inc.
