About the Role
Waters Advanced Diagnostic is seeking a Scientist II - Microbiology to join our R&D Solutions Assurance team. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the future of clinical diagnostics by contributing to the development and validation of cutting-edge microbiology and molecular diagnostic solutions. You’ll work on integrated systems-including industry-leading platforms such as BACTECTM, KiestraTM, CORTM and PhoenixTM -all connected through our SynapsysTM Informatics Solution, helping to transform how laboratories deliver patient care.

Key Responsibilities
Apply clinical microbiology expertise to ensure our products meet real-world customer needs.
Design and execute laboratory experiments with minimal oversight to support product development and validation.
Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D Engineering, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, and Service to improve diagnostic solutions.
Author and review technical documentation, including validation protocols.
Support troubleshooting efforts and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Stay current with advancements in clinical microbiology and related technologies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Medical Technology, or a related field (required).
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory, specifically bacteriology benchwork; familiarity with molecular technologies and platforms is a strong plus.
Solid understanding of clinical microbiology principles and laboratory practices.
Strong laboratory skills, including experimental design, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency with standard software tools (e.g., Excel, Word, databases).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with BACTEC™, Kiestra™, COR™, Phoenix™, MAX™, SynapsysTM, and similar diagnostic platforms is a strong plus.
Experience with technical writing and validation documentation is highly desirable.
Prior experience in product testing or validation studies is a plus.
A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a strong desire to learn and grow.
Workplace Arrangement
This is a full-time, on-site position based at our Sparks, Maryland location.

Salary Range Information
$75,800.00 - $121,300.00 USD Annual
