It takes the imagination and passion of all of us-from design and engineering to the manufacturing and marketing of our billions of MedTech products per year-to look at the impossible and find transformative solutions that turn dreams into possibilities.\n\nJob Description\nShift:\nWednesday/Thursday - 1st Shift\nSaturday/Sunday - 6am-6pm\nJob Responsibilities:\nResponsible for leading and coordinating manufacturing operations during an assigned shift to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient production of medical devices in accordance with BD's Quality Management System, FDA regulations, GMP requirements, and company policies. This role provides direct leadership to production associates, drives operational excellence, supports employee engagement, and ensures achievement of safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.\nThe Shift Leader serves as the first-line leader for manufacturing teams and plays a key role in fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, compliance, and respect.\nSafety & Compliance\nPromote and maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements.\nConduct daily safety observations, risk assessments, and corrective actions.\nEnsure adherence to FDA, GMP, ISO 13485, and BD Quality System requirements.\nParticipate in investigations related to safety, quality, deviations, and non-conformances.\nEscalate operational, quality, and compliance risks in a timely manner.\nManufacturing Operations\nLead and coordinate day-to-day production activities to achieve production schedules and customer requirements.\nMonitor manufacturing performance indicators including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Productivity.\nEnsure staffing levels are aligned with operational requirements.\nDrive attainment of production targets while maintaining product quality and regulatory compliance.\nMonitor line efficiencies, downtime, scrap, rework, and labor utilization.\nEnsure effective shift handoff communication between production teams.\nPeople Leadership\nDirectly supervise production associates and team leads within assigned areas.\nFoster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work environment.\nConduct performance management activities, coaching, development discussions, and performance evaluations.\nSupport employee engagement initiatives and BD culture expectations.\nPartner with Human Resources regarding employee relations, attendance management, corrective actions, and talent development.\nIdentify training needs and ensure associates are fully trained and qualified.\nQuality Excellence\nEnsure products are manufactured according to approved procedures and specifications.\nSupport investigations, CAPAs, audits, and corrective action implementation.\nDrive right-first-time manufacturing performance.\nReview production documentation for accuracy and compliance.\nPromote a quality mindset throughout the manufacturing organization.\nContinuous Improvement\nLead and support Lean Manufacturing and BD Excellence initiatives.\nUtilize problem-solving methodologies to eliminate waste and improve operational performance.\nAnalyze operational metrics and implement improvement plans.\nParticipate in Kaizen events, process improvement projects, and value stream initiatives.\nSupport implementation of productivity and cost reduction initiatives.\nEducation:\nBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.\nExperience:\n3+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably within medical device, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or FDA/GMP-regulated environments.\nKnowledge and Skills:\nDemonstrated ability and willingness to work across all manufacturing shifts and schedules, providing leadership support where needed to ensure operational continuity and business performance.\nStrong leadership and people management skills.\nKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and problem-solving methodologies.\nAbility to analyze production data and drive operational decisions.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nKnowledge of Microsoft Office applications.\nExperience with ERP systems and electronic quality systems preferred\nWhy Join Us?\nTo find purpose in the possibilities, we need people who can see the bigger picture, who understand the human story that underpins everything we do.
