Manager – Commercial Door Shop\nPURPOSE\n Under the direction of the General Manager, the Commercial Door Shop Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations of the commercial door shop, including production, inventory management, purchasing, scheduling, safety, customer service, financial controls, and field operations.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nOperations & Production Management\nOversee all daily activities and operations of the commercial door shop.\nManage workflow and production schedules to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.\nPrepare and distribute work tickets for shop personnel.\nReview approved submittals and project requirements prior to ordering materials.\nMaintain project visibility by monitoring bid calendars, bid logs, project folders, billing controls, and backlog reports.\nConduct occasional visits to jobsites and branch offices to ensure operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.\nPurchasing & Inventory Control\nOrder materials for customer projects and maintain adequate stock inventory levels.\nCoordinate with suppliers and vendors regarding orders, deliveries, pricing, and material availability.\nManage inventory quantities and review inventory-related reports.\nOversee annual physical inventory counts and conduct periodic spot checks throughout the year to maintain inventory accuracy.\nEnsure materials are available to support production schedules and installation commitments.\nOrder Processing & Customer Support\nReview and process orders, including pricing verification for both stocked and special-order materials.\nType and process all tickets with appropriate pricing information.\nProvide pricing support and quotations for other branch locations as requested.\nRespond to vendor inquiries regarding orders, pricing, and delivery schedules.\nScheduling & Logistics\nSchedule installation crews and coordinate manpower requirements.\nSchedule drivers and oversee delivery logistics to ensure timely product distribution.\nCoordinate production, delivery, and installation schedules to meet customer expectations and project deadlines.\nFinancial & Administrative Management\nReview and approve daily invoices and end-of-day financial transactions.\nReview and approve closed accounts payable transactions.\nProcess installer invoices and verify job-related billing information.\nMonitor accounts receivable, particularly accounts placed on hold, and work closely with the AR team to resolve outstanding issues.\nParticipate in monthly meetings regarding project draws and receivable status.\nReview and approve employee payroll.\nApprove expense reports submitted by sales personnel.\nContract & Project Administration\nCoordinate with legal teams regarding contracts, terms, and project requirements.\nEnsure compliance with contractual obligations and company policies.\nSafety & Compliance\nPromote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures within the shop.\nConduct routine safety reviews and maintain a safe working environment for employees.\nEnsure compliance with all (DOT regulations, forklift operations, OSHA compliance, etc.) applicable regulations, standards, and company requirements.\nSupervisory Responsibilities\nLead and direct shop personnel, drivers, installers, and administrative staff as assigned.\nEstablish performance expectations and provide coaching, training, and development opportunities.\nCoordinate resources and staffing to support production demands and business objectives.\n\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.\n\nBachelor’s degree from 4-year college or university, and 4-5 years of directly related experience in Commercial Doors shop; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong knowledge of inventory management, purchasing, scheduling, and production operations. Experience managing multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously. Understanding of financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes. Must also have strong customer service experience, and good organizational skills.\nCOMPETENCIES\n Language Skills \nAbility to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports, trade journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or member of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Must be able to persuade individuals or groups to take actions that would result in obtaining a mutually desired outcome. Influencing others is a major requirement of this position. Must have exceptional leadership and teamwork abilities.\n\nMathematical Skills \nAbility to apply concepts such as fraction, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Must be able to develop and interpret graphs and charts.\n\nReasoning Ability \nAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Solutions require modification of standard approaches to develop alternative course of action. Problems are varied and unrelated and require problem identification and analyses.
