This is an opportunity to shape how security is built into our products from the very beginning, creating secure-by-design solutions that support healthcare services people rely on every day.\nWorking closely with engineering, product, security and technology teams, you'll lead the development of application security capabilities across our development environments. You'll combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership, helping us create a world-class developer experience while strengthening our cyber security posture.\nIf you're passionate about modern application security, automation and mentoring others, you'll find plenty of scope to make a real impact in a role that combines strategy, innovation and delivery.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the design, implementation and ongoing improvement of application security tooling and capabilities.\nProvide technical leadership for secure development technologies including Software Composition Analysis (SCA), Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST), container security, code signing and secret detection.\nIntegrate security tooling into CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.\nHelp development teams embed secure-by-design principles throughout the software development lifecycle.\nAct as the technical lead for application security, supporting engineers and stakeholders across the organisation.\nBuild and develop a high-performing team of application security engineers through coaching, mentoring and knowledge sharing.\nDrive automation through scripting, APIs and infrastructure-as-code practices.\nMonitor and support application security platforms, providing expert troubleshooting and incident support.\nMake sure security controls align with industry standards and regulatory requirements including ISO 27001, NIST and GDPR.\nDevelop performance metrics and reporting that help measure and improve application security outcomes.\nWork with technology, compliance and business teams to strengthen security awareness and ownership across Bupa.\nWhat We're Looking For\nWe're looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with a collaborative and people-focused leadership style.\nYou'll ideally have:\nSignificant experience designing, implementing and managing application security programmes and tooling.\nStrong knowledge of application security practices, secure coding principles and vulnerability management.\nExperience working with SCA, SAST, DAST and related application security technologies.\nStrong experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps environments.\nExperience with automation and scripting tools such as Terraform, PowerShell, Python and REST APIs.\nExperience leading technical teams and developing high-performing engineers.\nKnowledge of security frameworks and regulations including ISO 27001, NIST and GDPR.\nExcellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to different audiences.\nDegree-level qualification in Cyber Security, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.\nProfessional certifications such as CISSP, CISM and/or CISA would be advantageous.\nExperience operating within complex enterprise environments.\nBenefits\nOur benefits are designed to make health happen for our people.
