Making a difference to the lives of our customers each and every day, by helping shape the strategic direction of our business around the world.\nThe Lead Engineer is a senior, hands-on technical leader with overall accountability for designing, building and governing Group Products (the “Products”):\nGroup Data: Advanced Analytics. A self-serve, cloud-native analytics product built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). We support our stakeholders to utilise GCP tooling for analysis via Python, including model-serving. Our roadmap includes introducing a data integration layer to further drive value adoption, as well as supporting more advanced machine learning use cases.\nTechnology Insights Centre (TIC). TIC aims to put commercial metrics regarding technology into the hands of decision makers, quickly and reliably. We’re starting small but have ambitions to deliver meaningful organisation-wide change. We’re building out the capability from the beginning.\nWe're looking for a highly skilled Lead Engineer (focusing on DevOps and Data engineering) to provide technical leadership across our Products. You will be responsible for designing, building, and governing business-critical products that enable advanced analytics, data-driven decision-making, and technology insights across the organisation. As the technical authority for your domain, you'll combine deep engineering expertise with strong architecture, security, and governance knowledge to drive product delivery, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. You'll provide technical leadership to engineering teams, shape technical strategy, and champion modern engineering practices while remaining actively involved in solution design and technical problem-solving.\nHow you’ll help us make health happen\nProvide DevOps and Data engineering leadership for the Products, ensuring high standards of build, testing, architecture, and delivery.\nDesign secure, scalable cloud analytics solutions and drive the technical roadmap from concept through to implementation.\nChampion modern engineering practices, including automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and observability.\nEmbed security, governance, and regulatory compliance into all solutions, balancing innovation with risk management.\nCollaborate with product teams and senior stakeholders to deliver business value and influence technical direction.\nRemain hands-on with solution design, code reviews, and complex technical challenges while coaching and developing engineers.\nFoster a culture of continuous improvement, engineering excellence, and knowledge sharing across teams.\nWhat you'll bring\nExtensive experience designing, implementing, and operating cloud-based technology products, ideally within GCP or a comparable cloud platform.\nStrong expertise in automation, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and modern engineering practices.\nExperience with secure data integration, including APIs, databases, and data pipelines, alongside authentication and access technologies such as OAuth and OIDC.\nProven ability to design secure, scalable solutions within regulated environments, with a strong understanding of governance, security, and compliance frameworks.\nTrack record of delivering complex enterprise-scale technology solutions across large and multinational organisations.\nStrong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.\nExperience leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing engineering teams.\nKnowledge of SQL and Python is advantageous, while experience with tools such as FiveTran or Airbyte would be beneficial.\nBenefits\nOur benefits are designed to make health happen for our people.
