The Commissioning Manager will work closely with third party suppliers and the utility to ensure each project is connected in accordance with the construction schedule and ensure a smooth handover to the Asset Management team.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nManage all commissioning activities for solar and solar plus storage projects from Mechanical Completion to Final Completion including utility interconnection.\nProvide commissioning expertise and coordinate commissioning resources for the development of commissioning related deliverables, including participation in constructability and operability activities, and engineering design reviews.\nDevelop and implement site specific commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures to ensure compliance with utility and regulatory requirements.\nConduct on-site inspections to ensure the system is being constructed in accordance with Issued for Construction drawings and to prepare for efficient and successful commissioning activities.\nLead system quality inspections, performance testing, availability and capacity testing, in accordance with the final commissioning plans and the project schedule.\nWork closely with contractors, equipment suppliers, and the monitoring system provider, to commission the asset and its components and resolve commissioning, integration, and communication issues.\nCoordinate load bank and witness testing in accordance with utility requirements.\nEnsure compliance with safety regulations, electrical codes, and industry standards.\nDocument and report commissioning results.\nSupport project due diligence efforts, including review by Independent Engineer.\nIdentify and mitigate risks associated with commissioning and interconnection.\nSupport training and knowledge transfer to Asset Management team for ongoing operations.\nConduct post completion commissioning revies identifying lessons learned and developing strategy and process improvements for implementation.\nManage, oversee and train commissioning technicians.\nSkills\nThe requirements listed below are representative of acquired skills required.\nStrong knowledge of solar plus storage projects, and utility grid requirements.\nFamiliarity with interconnection processes, permitting, and regulatory compliance for solar projects.\nProficiency in reading electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and interconnection drawings.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Power point/Project) and related project management tools such as Procore.\nExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical and communication system issues.\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working directly with utilities.\nAbility for 100% travel to project sites as needed.\n\nEducation, Certifications, and Experience\nPreferred but not required\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, a related field, or equivalent work experience.\nExperience: 5+ years of experience in solar and energy storage commissioning, utility interconnection, or electrical project management.\nKnowledge of renewable energy SCADA, DAS, and other system monitoring/control technologies\nCertifications such as NABCEP PV Commissioning, PE License, or PMP are advantageous.\nPhysical and Environmental Conditions\nThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
