We need Testers who can not only do but, importantly, can advocate and evangelise for testing in the right way.\nAs a Senior Test Engineer at Burendo, you will work with clients to help guide their testing strategy and help them focus on quality. You may be writing automated checks, participating or running 3 Amigos sessions, getting involved with tool selection and pipelines or other activities but your focus is on being an advocate for testing in the right way and leading the strategic quality discussions.\nWe have a new project kicking off in early November, so we’re looking for someone who can start immediately. The project requires SC clearance, so you’ll need to hold it already or be eligible to obtain it. Non-UK citizens must have at least five years’ continuous UK residency.\nRequirements\nEssential behaviours\nThese matter most to us. We can teach skills, but behaviours are much harder to teach.\nAn analytical, questioning mind that doesn’t take things at face value\nPragmatic when needed\nA focus on quality at every stage of the software development life cycle\nA great communicator with both technical and non-technical people\nA test-first mindset, rather than sticking rigidly to a methodology\nA focus on testing early and often\nA drive to push testing close to the code and create quick feedback cycles\nStrong leadership skills, both internally and with clients\nEssential skills\nYou’ll need a few skills to pick the role up quickly, but it’s not a long list.\nA strong understanding of being a testing leader in an agile environment\nExperience creating test strategies and collaborating to deliver them\nUsing automation in the appropriate places\nE2E testing of React applications (Playwright, Cypress or Selenium), including authenticated flows\nAPI and integration testing, ideally of .NET services with OIDC/JWT, using tools such as Postman or JMeter\nCI/CD and continuous testing experience (e.g. Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions), including containerised test environments\nAbility to understand and debug code in IDEs such as Visual Studio or IntelliJ\nUnderstanding of BDD and its benefits and drawbacks\nExperience of source code management\nAbility to influence non-functional requirements\nAbility to quickly understand new systems\nBackground in a regulated or safety-critical sector (healthcare, defence or similar)\nDesirable skills\nThese are the cherry-on-top skills that will help you stand out.
