Electrical Technician

Key Responsibilities

•                           Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
•                           Troubleshoot and repair: Motors and pumps

1.       Motor Control Centers (MCCs)

2.       Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

3.       Switchgear and transformers

4.       Power distribution systems (LV/MV)

5.       PLC and SCADA-related electrical components

•                           Inspect, test, and maintain electrical panels, breakers, relays, and control circuits.
•                           Assist in plant start-up, shutdown, and commissioning activities.
•                           Monitor plant electrical performance and identify potential failures.
•                           Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and wiring schematics.
•                           Ensure compliance with safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and permit-to-work systems.
•                           Coordinate with operations, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to minimize downtime.
•                           Maintain maintenance records, reports, and spare-parts inventory.
•                           Support emergency breakdown maintenance on a shift basis.

Required Qualifications

•                           Diploma / ITI / Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
•                           3-5 years (or as specified) of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
•                           Experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, or desalination plants is preferred.
•                           Knowledge of:

1.       PLC systems

2.       SCADA systems

3.       VFDs

4.       MCCs

5.       LV/MV electrical systems

6.       Electrical safety standards and procedures.

•                           High-pressure RO pumps
•                           Feed water pumps
•                           MCC panels
•                           Transformers
•                           Generators and UPS systems

Electrical Technician’s Key Skills:

1.                      Hands-on experience in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting MV (Medium Voltage) and LV (Low Voltage) switchgear, as well as MV and LV VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).

2.                      Ability to read and interpret electrical control schematic drawings with ease.

3.                      Experience working with UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems.

4.                      Working knowledge and hands-on experience with insulation resistance testers.

5.                      Knowledge of MV and LV switchgear protection relays and their applications.

6.                      Experience working with power transformers and associated electrical equipment.

7.                      Hands-on experience in circuit breaker operations, including electrical isolation and de-isolation procedures.
