Inc. is seeking a Senior Buyer/Planner to support research and development, engineering, and manufacturing activities through the procurement of commercial off-the-shelf components and highly specialized, custom-manufactured parts for spacecraft subsystems. This role is critical to supporting R&D programs, prototype builds, and development schedules while ensuring timely, cost-effective sourcing of components that meet stringent aerospace quality standards.\nThe ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation and supplier management skills, an understanding of procurement best practices, and experience supporting engineering and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nSource, evaluate, and select suppliers for materials, components, and services, including custom-machined parts, specialized hardware, and space-grade components.\n\nSupport R&D and engineering teams by procuring components and materials for prototype builds, testing, and new product development.\n\nManage end-to-end procurement activities, from requests for quotation and supplier negotiations to cost and terms analysis.\n\nPrepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring proper approvals, accurate specifications, and delivery schedules.\n\nMonitor purchase order status and proactively communicate delays or supply issues that could affect development, testing, or production schedules.\n\nWork closely with engineering, R&D, production, and quality teams to understand technical requirements and identify suitable suppliers.\n\nMaintain accurate procurement records, including pricing, delivery, quality, and vendor performance history.\n\nDevelop and maintain supplier relationships to support evolving engineering requirements, short lead times, and changing development priorities.\n\nSupport supplier audits, vendor onboarding, and continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nEnsure compliance with internal procedures and applicable quality, regulatory, and U.S. government requirements.\n\nQualifications\nMinimum 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or a buyer/planner role, preferably within aerospace, defense, R&D, or high-tech manufacturing.\n\nProven track record of successful vendor negotiations and supplier relationship management.\n\nExperience sourcing custom components and working with suppliers to meet technical specifications and delivery requirements.\n\nProficiency with ERP or purchase order management systems.\n\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other technical documentation.\n\nStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.\n\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers and other technical stakeholders.\n\nPreferred Skills\nExperience supporting R&D, prototype builds, engineering development, or low-volume manufacturing.\n\nExperience in an AS9100D- or ISO-certified environment.\n\nFamiliarity with aerospace components, machining processes, and specialized manufacturing suppliers.\n\nWorking knowledge of cost drivers in low-volume, high-reliability hardware procurement.\n\nAbility to source parts when designs, specifications, and quantities are still evolving.\n\nBenefits\nMedical, dental, and vision insurance.\n\n401(k) retirement plan.\n\nPaid vacation, sick time, and holidays.\n\nLife and disability insurance.\n\nEmployee Assistance Program.\n\nProfessional development opportunities.\n\nPerformance bonus opportunities.\n\nWhat We Offer\nAt Busek, you'll contribute to advanced spacecraft propulsion and aerospace technologies while working alongside knowledgeable, collaborative colleagues.
