This role turns product and business requirements into credible technical solutions, partners across engineering and product functions, and improves the quality, reliability, and maintainability of the software it touches. The Software Engineer II is expected to handle solution ambiguity, make sound trade-offs, and elevate the engineering habits of the team.\nThe Gig:\nDeliver clean, efficient code based on sprint commitments and following code standards and best practices.\n\nDesign, implement, test, deploy, and support major features, services, or substantial portions of team software. \n\nMake sound design trade-offs involving maintainability, performance, dependencies, delivery speed, and operational risk. \n\nWrite code that is easy for other engineers to understand, modify, and operate. \n\nLead root-cause analysis for complex defects and leave systems better than you found them. \n\nProvide constructive code reviews and actively contribute to design discussions, planning, and operational excellence reviews. \n\nImprove development, testing, deployment, documentation, or support mechanisms for the team. \n\nUse approved AI tools to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, and documentation while critically reviewing generated output for correctness, security, and maintainability. \n\nMentor newer engineers and help onboard teammates to your team’s software, architecture, and operational practices. \n\nExtensive knowledge of JAVA, SQL, XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript/JQuery, Object-Oriented Programming and Relational Databases (Oracle).\n\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\n\nComply with all policies and standards.\n\nWhat you need to make the cut:\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, Software Engineering, or related degree or equivalent practical experience.\n\n3+ years of professional software engineering experience. \n\nExperience designing and building stable, maintainable, and performant software or services. \n\nStrong coding ability in at least one modern programming language and comfort working across a typical software delivery lifecycle. \n\nExperience with code reviews, design trade-offs, debugging, testing, and production support. \n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with APIs, integrations, cloud platforms, observability tooling, relational or NoSQL databases, or distributed systems. \n\nExperience using AI-assisted development tools productively and responsibly, including validating generated output. \n\nExperience in benefits administration, HR technology, regulated SaaS, or other complex B2B systems. Experience with LINUX, Eclipse IDE, GIT, JIRA, Agile Development Methodology and XSL is a plus.\n\nExperience of development in the following areas is helpful: AWS and AWS Lambda’s. User interface development. Mobile development with HTML5 or Swift. Bootstrap, JQuery, or React Native. Billing and Payroll.
