Let's build something extraordinary together!\nJob Description\nWe are seeking an experienced software engineering leader to head a significant part of Butterfly Network's software organization. This is a backfill for a departing leader on the team. The role is based in our New York City office and reports to Boon Chen. You will set the technical vision and organizational strategy across our mobile, cloud, and platform engineering teams, driving the roadmap that powers the Butterfly ecosystem, from the Butterfly iQ3 device to Butterfly Cloud and Compass AI. You will lead a multi-team organization of engineering managers and individual contributors, partnering closely with Product, Design, Regulatory, and executive leadership to deliver a world-class, FDA-regulated medical device software platform.\nAs part of our team, your core responsibilities will be to:\nOwn and deliver the software engineering roadmap across mobile, cloud, and platform teams.\nLead, grow, and develop a multi-team engineering organization, including engineering managers and senior technical leaders.\nDefine and evolve software architecture and engineering standards across the organization.\nAttract, retain, and develop exceptional engineering talent at all levels.\nPartner with Product, Design, Regulatory, and Quality to ship compliant, high-quality software on schedule.\nDesign and manage internal operational processes, including planning, execution, and delivery rhythms, across a distributed engineering organization.\nServe as a technical and organizational leader across the company, representing engineering to executive leadership as needed.\nChampion a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.\nQualifications\nBaseline skills/experiences/attributes:\n15+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading multi-team engineering organizations at the Director/Sr. Director/VP level.\nSense of urgency and ownership of software development end to end.\nExperience running engineering processes and organizational structures at scale.\nEqually comfortable with cloud/backend development and mobile (iOS/Android) applications.\nExcellent communication skills, able to work equally well with technical staff and C-level executives.\nEngineering degree and equivalent experience.\nFDA medical device experience.\nIdeally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it's ok if you don't!):\nHardware device experience.\nExperience scaling engineering organizations through high-growth periods.\nBackground in health tech, medical devices, or other regulated industries.\nValues\nInnovation is what we do.
