Headquartered in McLean, VA, By Light supports defense, civilian, and commercial IT customers worldwide.\nPosition Overview\nSenior Software Engineer / Lead Developer that will envision product development and oversight of simulation projects through completion; analyze, design, and develop software enhancements and new modules; guide the development of a project from initial design through testing while providing strategic management direction. Provide technical leadership and guidance to less experienced staff.\nResponsibilities\nDesigns and develops software applications, components, and system enhancements.\nLead daily development meetings and monitor progress against established project tasks and schedules.\nAnalyze and decompose software requirements into actionable development tasks and maintain the project backlog.\nLead and conduct software peer reviews to ensure adherence to established coding, design, and implementation standards.\nPerforms coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the application development process.\nMay provide consultation on complex projects. Supports development of project proposals.\nSupport technical planning, estimation, and development of project proposals.\nRequired Experience/Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in computer science or other relevant degree.\nMinimum 10 years of experience as software developer.\nExperience designing and coding software applications using the Unity and/or Unreal Engine.\nAbility to independently plan, prioritize, and track software development activities to support project objectives and schedules.\nExperience designing, developing, and modifying software application, components, and prototypes.\nResearch product development options and provides analysis for product direction.\nConsults with internal functional areas to identify customer needs and include into project objectives. Provides support regarding product development to internal departments.\nManages and directs up to four to five software developers.
