Working closely with engineering, operations, contractors, clients, and investors, you will ensure that all activities are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with industry best practice.\nThis role covers the full project lifecycle, from construction and commissioning through to long-term Operations & Maintenance (O&M). You will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust HSE systems, leading audits and inspections, investigating incidents, and driving a proactive safety culture across multiple sites.\nThis role is a field base role including travelling to 3 locations in the UK.\nKey responsibilities include:\nDeveloping, implementing, and continuously improving HSE management systems for high-voltage BESS projects.\n\nEnsuring compliance with UK legislation, including CDM 2015, the Health and Safety at Work Act, Electricity at Work Regulations, and environmental requirements.\n\nConducting site audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across multiple locations.\n\nLeading incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.\n\nReviewing and approving Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).\n\nActing as the primary HSE contact for clients, investors, auditors, and regulatory authorities.\n\nSupporting and mentoring junior HSE personnel while promoting a positive, safety-first culture throughout the organisation.\n\nAbout You\nYou are a proactive and experienced HSE professional with a strong background in utility-scale energy, power infrastructure, high-voltage environments, or battery energy storage projects. You are confident working independently, influencing stakeholders at all levels, and driving continuous improvement across complex operational environments.\nYou bring:\nA minimum of 5 years' experience in an HSE management role within utility-scale renewables, high-voltage substations, power generation, transmission and distribution, or grid-scale BESS projects.\n\nNEBOSH National General Certificate or NEBOSH Diploma.\n\nStrong knowledge of CDM 2015, Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and UK environmental legislation.\n\nExperience managing contractor and subcontractor safety performance across multiple sites.\n\nExcellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and report-writing skills.\n\nThe ability to build trusted relationships with clients, investors, regulators, and operational teams.\n\nA valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to project sites across the UK.\n\nThe right to work in the United Kingdom.\n\nDesirable:\nChartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH).\n\nExperience within Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or other energy infrastructure projects.\n\nExperience working with institutional investors, lenders, or asset owners.\n\nWhat You Need to Be Successful\nTo succeed in this role, you will combine strong technical HSE expertise with excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
