Industries is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Accountantto support project financial management across multiple heavy civil construction projects. This is an on-site role in Long Island City, Queens. Reporting to the Director of Project Accounting and working closely with Estimating and Project Management, this individual will help maintain accurate project budgets, track costs, and prepare financial reports.\nThe ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in construction accounting and job costing at a self-performing contractor, along with a desire to grow their skills in cost control and cost-to-complete analysis. Experience working with construction ERP systems, preferably CMiC, is highly desirable.\nQualifications\n3 to 5 years of experience working for a heavy civil self-perform contractor\n2+ years of accounting, project accounting, or cost accounting experience within the construction industry\nExperience tracking self-performed labor, equipment, and material costs for a general contractor\nExperience with CMiC is strongly preferred\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to work with large datasets and prepare clear financial reports\nUnderstanding of construction accounting principles and project cost management\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills\nExcellent organizational and communication abilities with the ability to work cross-functionally with PMs, Estimators, and Accounting teams\nEager to learn, with a proactive approach to identifying issues and asking questions\nWorking knowledge of:Job costing\nConstruction budgeting\nCost-to-complete (CTC) reporting\nProject forecasting\nConstruction financial reporting\n\nKey Responsibilities\nAssist in setting up project budgets within CMiC upon contract award.\nWork with Estimating and Project Management teams to help convert estimates into project budgets.\nEnter and maintain project budget information within CMiC.\nTrack project budgets against actual costs and flag variances to the Director of Project Accounting and Project Managers.\nAssist with reconciling project costs between accounting and project management systems.\nSupport the preparation of quarterly Cost-to-complete (CTC) reports.\nTrack productivity rates and compare actual performance against estimates.\nHelp identify profit fade, profit gain, underbillings, and other financial trends.\nAssist project teams in monitoring project performance and updating forecasts.\nPerform job cost reviews and report findings to the Director of Project Accounting.\nUpdate labor and equipment rates within CMiC.\nAssist in maintaining internal equipment rates and tracking actual equipment costs.\nTrack shop costs and support cost allocation procedures.\nAssist with project cash flow forecasts and track actual vs projected project cash flows.\nPrepare and update standard reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for PMs and leadership.\nHelp project teams with routine CMiC questions and escalate issues as needed.\nWe offer a competitive salary and benefits package, year-end discretionary bonus, annual performance reviews, parking on-premises, and daily lunch on-site.
