Our activities are diverse, enabling the aviation industry to meet the highest safety standards, and we pride ourselves on our ability to adapt to the constantly evolving aviation environment.\nThe Role\nThe Azure DevOps Cloud Engineer role in the Azure Platform Team (APT) will provide a team role across strategic cloud infrastructure platforms and technologies in support of business objectives and will be expected to support and deliver continuous improvement in those areas.\nThe role will deliver and integrate technical solutions throughout the product lifecycle and requires technical delivery skills, an understanding of Azure DevOps (ADO), yaml pipelines, Terraform, and demonstrate the capability of dealing directly with the business.\nThe Azure DevOps Cloud Engineer will:\nBuild/Support Resources in Cloud Environments using Infrastructure as Code, via Gitflow practices\nApply templates and standards as defined by the Azure Platform Team\nWork alongside Software Developers and testers to ensure that CAA infrastructure quality standards are met.\nThe Azure DevOps Cloud Engineer will be a member of both the Azure Platform Team and potentially of a ‘Product’ (Delivery) Team either on a permanent or temporary basis and may assume extended responsibilities of a Subject Matter Expertise or Technical Lead, which will include the definition of work packages, making DevOps Cloud Infrastructure Engineer decisions and managing developer and engineering activities on a day-to-day basis.\nCore Accountabilities\nDevelopment of IaC modules, following agreed standards and practices\nDevelopment of configuration scripts/policies for deployed Azure resources such as OS hardening on VMs and standard builds for developers\nDevelopment of solution specific EaC scripts and pipelines, following agreed standards and practices\nTesting of IaC, EaC and configuration code\nManual creation and configuration of Azure resources as necessary\nAdministration of AD accounts, roles, groups in support of Azure RBAC policies\nMonitoring and alerting configuration\nResponding to alerts and issues\nSupport to product teams in their use of produced modules\nAssist where required in the definition and update of the standards and processes required for the successful execution of the work of the Architecture and associated IT function\nTake ownership of development on feature level solutions\nUnderstand a whole systems approach by working across disciplines and take responsibility for sharing knowledge proactively\nWrite secure, clean and appropriately tested code\nTakes ownership in improving systems robustness, resilience and stability\nMonitors the services built and proactively resolves issues in production, in conjunction with Product Team\nAbout You\nEssential:\nDemonstrable specialist knowledge of Infrastructure development lifecycles in a complex environment\nExperience of cloud infrastructure services, specifically Microsoft Azure\nExperience of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development and Terraforming practices\nRelevant technical knowledge and experience of designing and implementing cloud based technologies, specifically Microsoft Azure environments, Office 365 services, also including: Networking (LAN, WAN), Network Operating Systems (Windows, Linux), Storage and Security \nThe ability to negotiate with external suppliers and members of the business community to satisfy business needs\nBe self-motivated and have the ability to motivate and influence others\nExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with colleagues, 3rd parties and management at all levels\nProject delivery experience working within a Prince 2 environment, knowledge of Agile and Waterfall approaches would be beneficial\nIn-depth working knowledge of main Business Systems and the ability to maintain the system utilising the tools available within the system\nAdditional Information\nFor many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information.
