Technical Writer

The Opportunity:

Creates FEMA-compliant assessment documentation, templates, reports, and briefings; supports project reporting and Section 508 compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Work Location: Washington, DC (currently hybrid)
• Draft and maintain system assessment templates, scoring rubrics, interview guides, and data call artifacts.
• Prepare Draft/Final System Assessment Profiles, dependency/integration matrices, modernization recommendations, and Final Assessment Report.
• Ensure documentation aligns with FEMA standards, privacy/records requirements, and Section 508 accessibility.
• Support weekly/biweekly progress reports; coordinate review cycles and incorporate Government comments into final deliverables. Qualifications: Required:
• Ability to obtain DHS EOD
• 8+ years technical writing in federal IT programs
• Expertise producing structured deliverables and applying accessibility standards Desired:
• Experience with DHS/FEMA documentation templates
• Background as project coordinator or deputy PM
