This position will consist of substitute custodial coverage necessary, event setups and coverage, grounds maintenance and minor repair and preventative maintenance on College facilities. This person will be required to work during delays and snow closure days that fall within scheduled workdays and may be on call during snow emergencies. Overtime and irregular work hours may be required on short notice, including evenings, weekends, special events, and call-ins, at the discretion of the appropriate supervisor. Work hours are determined by the College and are subject to change based on departmental and institutional needs. Academic year and summer schedules are established to support operational requirements. This position may provide campus-wide coverage, work in multiple buildings or locations, and occasionally require out-of-area travel.\nSchedule: Friday through Tuesday, 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.\nQualifications\nEDUCATION\nHigh School Diploma or GED or equivalent. Required\nLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS\nValid and in State Valid Driver's License. Required\nEXPERIENCE\nExperience as a custodian. Preferred\nExperience in general maintenance duties, such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing and HVAC. Preferred\nExperience in general lawn and grounds duties. Preferred\nExperience operating mechanical lifts. Preferred\nABILITIES AND SKILLS\nAbility to read, write, and interpret instructions. Required\nAbility to communicate both orally and in written form Required\nPossession of a valid driver's license. Required\nOperate a plow truck. Preferred\nWorking knowledge of computer applications related to work order systems and Microsoft Office/Office 365 programs. Required\nMust have training and/or certification in forklift operation or become trained/certified prior to performing forklift responsibilities. Required\nDemonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. Required\nResponsibilities\nDrive trucks, scissor lifts and forklifts.\nAssist plumbers, carpenters, electricians, masons, and painters with general maintenance duties\nAssist with the installation and repair electrical lighting systems and fixtures.\nAssist with the installation and repair of wood/metal framing, insulation, drywall, trim, acoustical ceilings, etc.\nPatching, sanding, scraping, priming, and painting of surfaces.\nAssist Horticulturists with various groundskeeping duties including but not limited to: cleaning of outdoor areas, mowing, weed control, mulching, snow removal.\nHaul gravel, mulch, sand, top soil, equipment, supplies to and from various locations.\nMove College offices and equipment.\nAssist Custodians with various duties, including but not limited to: floor care, finish removal, refinishing, burnishing, mopping, scrubbing, carpet cleaning, vacuuming.\nDispose of trash and recycling.\nCleaning of surfaces, such as, walls, windows, ledges, desks, chairs, fountains, ashtrays, whiteboards, blackboards.\nDust various areas.\nMaintain stairways and landings.\nClean restrooms and replenish supplies.\nProvide proper disinfection of surfaces of surfaces as necessary.\nRemove snow from walkways.\nReplace light bulbs and clean lighting fixtures.\nSet up areas for and function as an Attendant at special College events.\nADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES\nAssist with repairs to concrete work, walls, ceilings, floors, steps, walkways, and furnishings.\nPerform other appropriate job-related duties as assigned by the Manager.\nPhysical Standards and Special Job Features\nLifting 65 lbs. maximum without assistance with frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs.\nWorking off ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts at high elevations.\nTravel to main campus buildings when necessary.\nExposed to dust and harsh chemicals in cleaning products.\nWork outdoors in extreme conditions.\nPay Transparency\n$20.60 per hour, plus shift differentialCollege Statement\nThis is not a complete itemization of all facets of this position.
