This role will own the technical direction, execution, and delivery of core geometry and meshing capabilities, including CAD model preparation, geometry cleanup, defeaturing, mesh generation, mesh quality, and CAE preprocessing workflows. The successful candidate will guide architecture and technical decisions, collaborate closely with product, QA, and global engineering teams, and ensure high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software releases that directly support Apex product strategy and customer simulation workflows.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead and execute R&D initiatives for geometry and meshing.\nCollaborate with various internal and external teams to deliver key projects\nContribute technically to the development of geometry and meshing features in MSC Apex and support other projects.\nTroubleshoot and resolve technical or operational issues.\nDrive process improvements and best practices.\nMentor junior team members and contribute to team growth.\nParticipate in weekly technical discussions and provide feasibility analysis or concerns\nRequired Qualifications\nEducation\nBachelors or Masters in Computer Aided Design/Mechanical engineering or related engineering domains\nExperience\n20+ years of experience in the Software Industry with experience in managing Geometry and/or Meshing Domains in R&D\nStrong background in computational geometry, CAD modeling, and geometry kernels such as Parasolid, ACIS, or equivalent.\nPractical understanding of mesh generation, mesh quality, surface/solid meshing, defeaturing, cleanup, and CAE preprocessing workflows.\nExperience with CAD/CAE products such as MSC Apex, Patran, ANSA, CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, or similar tools.\nAwareness of customer workflows in simulation, preprocessing, model preparation, and downstream solver integration.\nAbility to guide architecture and technical decisions for geometry and meshing components.\nStrong hands-on background in C++, preferably with experience in large-scale engineering or scientific software.\nFamiliarity with scripting and automation using Python.\nExperience reviewing designs, identifying technical risks, and driving feasibility analysis.\nAbility to balance innovation, product quality, performance, maintainability, and release commitments.\nPractical experience using AI-assisted software development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools to improve coding productivity, code review efficiency, documentation, and engineering workflows.\nSoft Skills\nStrong leadership skills with the ability to mentor engineers, set expectations, provide feedback, and build a high-performing delivery-focused team.\nExcellent communication skills for working with engineering teams, product stakeholders, QA, program management, and senior leadership.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make practical decisions under technical and schedule constraints.\nAbility to drive accountability, remove execution blockers, and maintain focus on predictable, high-quality delivery.\n• Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence across teams and build alignment around technical priorities and delivery commitments.N/A\nWe’re doing work that matters.
