This hands-on role requires deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat OpenStack Platform 17.1 (RHOSP 17.1), and Service Telemetry Framework (STF) for advanced observability, automation, and lifecycle operations across hybrid environments.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Design, Architecture & Deployment\nLead the design, deployment, and configuration of RHOSP 17.1-based cloud environments, including compute, storage, and networking.\n\nDeliver fully configured and validated OpenStack environments aligned with organizational and client objectives.\n\nDefine and enforce Linux and OpenStack architectural standards, ensuring scalability, automation, and security.\n\nCollaborate with Cloud, DevOps, and Application teams to integrate workloads across private and hybrid cloud infrastructures.\n\n2. Cloud Operations Management\nManage day-to-day OpenStack operations to ensure system uptime, stability, and performance.\n\nOversee monitoring integration, patch management, node scaling, and performance tuning.\n\nImplement automation for backups, configuration management, and disaster recovery.\n\n3. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer\nCreate detailed technical documentation for architecture, deployment, and configuration processes.\n\nConduct knowledge transfer sessions to strengthen operational readiness and standardization.\n\nTechnical Focus Areas\nMonitoring & Observability\nReview Ceilometer and STF configurations to verify metric collection accuracy.\n\nIntegrate RHOSP telemetry (Ceilometer/Prometheus) and alert pipelines.\n\nPerform log reviews across OpenStack services and identify recurring fault patterns.\n\nLifecycle Management\nPlan and test RHOSP upgrades in lab/staging environments before production rollout.\n\nAutomate backup and recovery processes for OpenStack databases, configurations, and metadata.\n\nValidate restore procedures and document disaster recovery verification steps.\n\nSecurity & Compliance\nReview STIG compliance guidance and validate current configurations against RHOSP 17.x standards.\n\nVerify firewall, SELinux, and authentication policies on controller and compute nodes.\n\nConduct vulnerability scans using Red Hat Insights or OpenSCAP, tracking remediation and compliance.\n\nCapacity & Performance\nAdd and validate compute nodes using Director (TripleO).\n\nSupport GPU node onboarding and verify Nova GPU scheduling.\n\nPerform performance tuning for Nova, Neutron, and Cinder services.\n\nAutomation & Efficiency\nDevelop Ansible playbooks for provisioning, patching, and backups.\n\nMaintain Git-based automation repositories for version control and change management.\n\nContinuous Improvement\nIdentify knowledge or tooling gaps across RHOSP environments.\n\nPropose and lead training or shadowing sessions for OpenStack and Ansible operations.\n\nProvide monthly improvement reports on performance, automation, and reliability metrics.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n10+ years of Linux system architecture and administration experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and RHOSP (preferably 17.1).\n\nProven experience architecting and operating private or hybrid OpenStack clouds.\n\nStrong expertise in Ansible, Terraform, Git, and automation workflows.\n\nSolid knowledge of Prometheus, Alert manager, Grafana, and STF.\n\nProficiency in Python and Bash scripting.\n\nExcellent communication and leadership skills with cross-functional collaboration.\n\nRed Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) or equivalent certification preferred.\n\nPreferred Experience\nExperience with iSCSI/NFS storage, and GPU integration within OpenStack.\n\nFamiliarity with multi-cloud operations (AWS, Azure).\n\nKnowledge of Red Hat security frameworks.\n\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive compensation and benefits package.\n\nOpportunity to lead enterprise-scale RHOSP and STF modernization initiatives.\n\nA collaborative, high-performance engineering culture.\n\nThe annual salary range for California is $136,500 to $253,500. You may also be eligible to receive incentive compensation: bonus, equity, and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure.
