Supported by advanced training and cutting-edge technology, you’ll grow as an educator and find purpose in helping pilots excel, no matter the challenges they face.Description\nThis role serves as the subject-matter expert (SME) for CAE’s Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Civilian Qualified Flying Instructor (CQFI) team, supporting the design of the Pilatus PC-21 and Grob 120TP training programs. You will work closely with CAE Qualified Flying Instructors (CQFIs) and participate in the Integrated Product Team (IPT) and Training Development Team (TDT).\nIn collaboration with the Courseware Instructional System Designer (ISD), you will review and advise on module outlines, storyboards, and courseware to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with the RCAF Training Plan. You will also contribute to Flight Training Operations design, Ground-Based Training Systems (GBTS) design, and training device design.\nThis is a non-flying role, focused heavily on new courseware development for the FAcT program. You will be deeply involved in storyboard reviews, outline reviews, and final approvals across multiple development stages. You will collaborate closely with the CQFI team throughout all phases.\nWork model & travel\nRemote role anywhere in Canada, with a highly flexible work schedule.\n\nOccasional travel (1-2 times per quarter) to Moose Jaw, SK for workshops or team activities.\n\nThis is a temporary 3-5 year position, aligned with the completion of courseware and full training system implementation.\n\nCandidates wishing to remain with CAE long-term would eventually need to transition into a Moose Jaw-based CQFI role.\n\n*This position is an existing role.*\nKey responsibilities\nServe as Instructor Pilot SME in support of training program design, including writing/reviewing training plans, publications, IT/software integration requirements, and physical space design.\n\nDesign and develop courseware through the full review cycle (classroom, synthetic device, live flying sequences).\n\nProvide SME input for acceptance testing of courseware and synthetic training devices.\n\nDevelop policy and procedure documents for the integrated training centre; collaborate with Air Operations (Dispatch) on operational policies and procedures.\n\nAnalyze and report on training needs and risks; support Validation & Verification (V&V) as an RCAF instructional expert.\n\nUndertake aircraft familiarization training when/if available.\n\nMinimum Qualifications\nExperience as an Instructor Pilot within the RCAF or a comparable military training environment.\n\nExpertise with synthetic training devices and multimedia-supported training.\n\nExperience in curriculum design and/or training program management.\n\nFamiliarity with high-performance, single-engine turboprop trainers (e.g., Pilatus PC-21, Grob 120TP).\n\nCompletion of post-secondary education in a relevant field.\n\nAbility to obtain and maintain Level I security clearance.\n\nStrong collaboration skills for working with IPT/TDT teams, ISDs, and customer stakeholders.\n\n5-8 years of job-related experience within military flight operations.\n\n5+ years of leadership experience.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrior involvement in GBTS design, training device design, and/or acceptance testing.\n\nExperience contributing to policy and procedure development for flight operations and dispatch.\n\nInterest in long-term career development within CAE, with the potential to transition into a Moose Jaw-based CQFI role after the project concludes.\n\nBenefits\nWe’ve designed flexible policies to promote well-being and growth, based on role-specific eligibility and requirements:\nDynamic and collaborative team environment.\n\nStimulating work environment.\n\nCulture where initiative is recognized and valued.\n\nOpportunity to contribute to a variety of projects within a multidisciplinary team.\n\nAttractive employee benefits.\n\nBase Pay Range\nOur total rewards package includes base pay and benefits, with final compensation determined by experience, skill, location, and internal equity.\n$107,500K CAD - $157,500K CAD\nAbout CAE\nAt CAE, our mission is clear: to help make the world a safer place.
