CAE, a world-class public company that is a leader in training in the fields of civil aviation and defence and security, is looking for a talented individual to join its Defense & Security (D&S) team as the Accounting Team Leader, supporting the Accounting Manager in the execution of the segment’s accounting, reporting and close activities.
In this role, you will:
- Support the Accounting Manager in the month-end and quarter-end close consolidation process for the segment, including:
- Co-ordinating timelines and deliverables with subsidiaries and joint ventures in over 25 locations worldwide.
- Preparing and reviewing journal entries, including inter-company profit eliminations, GAAP adjustments, error corrections and presentation journal entries.
- Helping identify and resolve accounting issues and ensuring that reported numbers are in compliance with accounting standards and corporate accounting policies.
- Preparing monthly reporting packages and presentations for Management, including analyses of the income statement, balance sheet, cashflow statement and other supporting schedules.
- Supporting the review of information used to prepare quarterly and annual financial information disclosures.
- Lead the segment investments steering committee, including preparation of supporting materials and follow-up on action items.
- Participate in the preparation of the monthly balance sheet and cashflow forecast.
- Participate in the annual budget process by supporting the Accounting Manager and regional finance teams.
- Prepare the quarterly D&S MD&A and supporting analysis for senior management review.
- Support discussions with external auditors by preparing analyses, coordinating requests and following up on open items.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and coaching to financial analysts, helping ensure priorities, deliverables and quality standards are met.
- Work closely with the Accounting Manager and senior finance stakeholders to provide guidance and support to the D&S regions.
- Perform general and customized analyses to support strategic initiatives, process improvements and ad hoc management requests.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in audit, accounting, consolidation or financial reporting, preferably in a public corporation or complex multinational environment.
- CPA accounting designation or in progress.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel.

- Hyperion Financial Management and/or Hyperion Planning expertise.
- Ability to thrive in an often fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex information clearly.
- Results-oriented with strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality deliverables.
- Ability to identify issues, propose practical solutions and escalate matters appropriately.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
