You will act as an expert for management and business units on the accounting implications of unusual and complex transactions and ensure compliance with IFRS. You will be responsible to manage and supervise the work of the Complex Accounting team and will report to the Assistant Corporate Controller. This role offers significant exposure to executive leadership, mergers and acquisitions, business transformations, and other high-impact corporate initiatives.\nResponsibilities\nAssess the accounting implications of unusual and complex transactions, and prepare related documentation and memos\nBe a strategic business partner and advisor on accounting related issues to management and different finance teams, including: business units, merger and acquisition, tax, treasury, consolidation and financial reporting\nLead the team of professional accountants in Complex Accounting, and review accounting analyses and memos prepared by other team members\nPlan and manage the execution of accounting related projects, including: business acquisitions (purchase price allocation) and the adoption of new accounting standards\nPrepare and facilitate training sessions for the finance team\nSupport the financial reporting team in the preparation of external consolidated financial reporting for unusual and complex issues\nMonitor emerging IFRS and US GAAP developments and assess their potential impact on the organization, providing recommendations to senior leadership\nStay up to date with industry best practices and evolving regulatory requirements to ensure the organization maintains a strong accounting governance framework\nLead interactions with external auditors related to technical accounting matters and support audit reviews of complex transactions\nProvide technical accounting leadership for significant business transformations, restructurings, financing transactions, and strategic investments\nCollaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate the accounting implications of new products, contracts, partnerships, and business models\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field\nProfessional accounting designation mandatory (CPA)\nMinimum of 5 years of similar experience, or at a large accounting firm\nIn-depth knowledge of IFRS and excellent ability to interpret accounting standards and their practical application\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess highly complex transactions and communicate conclusions effectively\nStrong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple complex initiatives simultaneously and meet tight deadlines\nExperience supporting mergers and acquisitions, including purchase price allocations and post-acquisition integration activities\nPreferred Qualifications\nAbility to communicate with all levels of the organization and adapt quickly to change\nSelf-starter, demonstrate high level of initiative and autonomy\nStrong planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work\nKnowledge of US GAAP\nBilingualism (French and English)\nBenefits\nGroup Insurance\nTelemedicine Employee and Family Assistance Program\nEmployee Stock Purchase Plan\nGroup RRSP\nCAE Pension Plan/Defined Benefit Plan\nSabbatical Leave\nFlex Time\nEnhanced Parental Leave\nAbout CAE\nAt CAE, our mission is clear: to help make the world a safer place.
