When our systems are down, our customers' money stops. That makes reliability, security and the ability to ship safely core to the business, not a back-office concern.\nGood DevOps makes every other engineer faster and safer: you'll own the infrastructure we use to run, ship and monitor our software end to end, reporting to our security & infrastructure lead, who focuses on security while you drive DevOps. This isn't a role that only runs other people's code: you'll write and ship production code yourself, in our application services as well as our infrastructure, held to the same standards of review and testing as the rest of the team. Strong software engineering fundamentals matter as much here as infra experience: you should be comfortable reading and contributing to our codebase, not just the pipelines around it.\nLocation: Remote, with at least 4 hours of overlap with US Eastern time. Professional English required.\nIn your first six months, you'll\nLearn our infrastructure and deployment pipelines end to end.\n\nHelp design and build our agentic development environment.\n\nImprove our monitoring and alerting so we catch payment-impacting issues before customers do.\n\nStrengthen our disaster recovery and backup strategy, and test it.\n\nMake our compliance evidence (access reviews, change logs, audit trails) easier to produce.\n\nWhat you'll be doing\nMaintain and evolve our Kubernetes-based infrastructure on AWS: AWS CDK for provisioning, Helm/kubectl for workload deployments.\n\nBuild and improve deployment pipelines with GitHub Actions.\n\nWrite and ship production code: infrastructure as code, internal tooling, and changes to our application services, such as instrumentation, health checks and performance fixes.\n\nOwn observability with New Relic: dashboards, alerting, and SLOs for critical payment flows.\n\nOperate and scale our managed services, including messaging (CloudAMQP) and databases (MongoDB Atlas, PostgreSQL).\n\nManage secrets, access controls and identity infrastructure.\n\nDesign for high availability and disaster recovery, and lead incident response and postmortems.\n\nOptimize AWS cost and performance.\n\nPartner with engineering and compliance on security controls and audit readiness.\n\nWhat we're looking for\nStrong programming skills in at least one general-purpose language, ideally Java or Kotlin, with a real track record of shipping and reviewing production code. This matters as much as your infra background, since you'll work directly in our SDLC and application codebase, not just around it.\n\n5+ years of experience in infrastructure, DevOps or SRE roles.\n\nStrong experience operating production systems on AWS.\n\nProficiency with Kubernetes in production.\n\nExperience with infrastructure as code (AWS CDK, Terraform or similar) and Helm.\n\nExperience building CI/CD pipelines, ideally with GitHub Actions.\n\nExperience with monitoring and observability tools such as New Relic.\n\nA security-first mindset: least-privilege access, secrets management, network security.\n\nComfort with on-call and incident response.\n\nHands-on experience with AI-assisted development in your daily work, with the judgment to review and question what the tools produce.\n\nComfort with high autonomy and ambiguity in a fast-moving, remote startup.\n\nClear written communication. Most of our collaboration is async.\n\nNice to have\nExperience in fintech, payments or other regulated environments.\n\nExperience supporting SOC 2 audits, which we maintain today, or ISO 27001, which we may pursue.\n\nExperience working in Spring Boot codebases, in Java or Kotlin.\n\nExperience with RabbitMQ and MongoDB in production.\n\nExperience operating identity and access management systems (e.g. Keycloak).\n\nHow we work\nWe use AI tools every day and expect you to as well. They make us faster at the routine parts of the work. But you own every change you ship: you understand it, test it, and can defend it in review. That matters even more for infrastructure, where a bad change can take down payments.
