The role covers all aspects of Software Engineering including design, implementation and testing. This exciting role will place the right candidate at the forefront of unmanned air systems development in the UK.\nResponsibilities\nCollaborate on the design and build of user interfaces.\n\nCollaborate with UX researchers/designers, developers and project managers.\n\nCollaborate during sprint planning and estimations in a cross-functional team.\n\nDesign and build pixel-perfect, responsive user interfaces.\n\nSupport the development of a robust design system.\n\nDeliver software iteratively to milestones and deadlines.\n\nSupport decisions around best-practice tooling and processes.\n\nEnsure code quality is maintained by contributing to code reviews and implementing appropriate test coverage.\n\nDesign and implement new software features that meet acceptance criteria.\n\nPerform other related duties as required.\n\nHealth & Safety\nDemonstrate in daily activities a commitment to health and safety in the workplace by always ensuring tasks are performed in the safest possible manner.\n\nReport all hazards and incidents that the individual is party to, or observes, in the correct manner.\n\nWhen required or directed, participate in any health and safety training.\n\nQualifications\nEducated to a degree level in a computing related subject.\n\nSkills and Experience\nEssential:\nDemonstrable background as a Front End Software Engineer.\n\nProficiency in designing high-fidelity UI in Figma (or similar design tools).\n\nHands-on exposure to real-time applications.\n\nConfidence working within a cross-functional agile team.\n\nStrong practical knowledge of React, TypeScript, HTML & CSS, Git, and Jira (or similar tools).\n\nFamiliarity with Figma or comparable design platforms.\n\nWorking knowledge of Jest, Cypress, RTL, or other testing tools.\n\nCapability in API integration.\n\nUnderstanding of WebSocket or similar streaming technologies.\n\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\n\nDesirable:\nInterest in drones, aviation, data-heavy or geospatial systems.\n\nExperience mentoring and coaching junior engineers.\n\nFamiliarity with accessibility standards.\n\nPrevious experience working in defence.\n\nChampion of coding standards.\n\nPrioritisation of accessibility and UI/UX principles.\n\nUp-to-date knowledge of design best practices, including responsive design, accessibility and maintainable user interface patterns.\n\nPersonal Attributes\nExcellent communicator and problem solving ability.\n\nEnthusiastic, self-motivated and able to work well in a team.\n\nMust be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK.\n\nAbility to commit to occasional national and international travel.\n\nA full valid UK driving license.\n\nAbility to hold Security Clearance - 5 years residence in the UK.\n\nCallen-Lenz is an equal opportunities employer, committed to building an inclusive working environment.
