You will be leading software project teams to design and document software whilst consistently communicating with stakeholders and other departments to ensure software meets requirements.\nResponsibilities\nModel-based design of flight control software using Simulink or similar.\n\nLead the design and maintenance of autopilot simulation software.\n\nCoordinate and contribute to flight performance studies.\n\nDevelopment of flight dynamics models for company products.\n\nOversee and coach team members in the use of related software development tools.\n\nCollaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to define software requirements.\n\nReview software source code and model designs.\n\nCollaborate with other engineering disciplines.\n\nLead test and test recording to ensure correct operation of software and that requirements are met.\n\nLead the software team within individual projects to deliver activities to agreed cost and schedule.\n\nSupport the Project Manager in scoping, defining and estimating project tasks.\n\nPerform other duties where required.\n\nHealth & Safety\nDemonstrate in daily activities a commitment to health and safety in the workplace by always ensuring tasks are performed in the safest possible manner.\n\nReport all hazards and incidents that the individual is party to, or observes, in the correct manner.\n\nWhen required or directed, participate in any health and safety training.\n\nQualifications\nBSc or MSc degree in an Engineering related subject\n\nSkills and Experience\nEssential\nExperience in designing and documenting control systems.\n\nDeep understanding of aeronautics and control theory.\n\nConsiderable experience of designing and documenting software.\n\nExperience using MATLAB & Simulink.\n\nKnowledge of a variety of programming languages and tools.\n\nDesirable\nUnderstanding of real time and embedded software.\n\nKnowledge of safety related engineering practices.\n\nLeadership and mentoring of software engineers.\n\nPrevious experience or interest in UAVs.\n\nPersonal Attributes\nMust be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK.\n\nAbility to commit to occasional national and international travel.\n\nExcellent communicator.\n\nExcellent problem-solving ability.\n\nAbility to work well in a team.\n\nEnthusiasm for their work and self-motivated.\n\nAbility to hold Security Clearance - 5 years residence in the UK.\n\nCallen-Lenz is an equal opportunities employer, committed to building an inclusive working environment.
