With a mission to advance the science of crash testing\nResponsibilities\nWhat You’ll Do\nPerforming set-up and installation of force measurement sensing equipment suchas accelerometers, string pots, and other misc. sensorsFollow test procedures to install instrumentation in accordance with customerrequirements\nUtilize Microsoft Excel to document installation of instrumentation for testingWork closely with test engineers, technicians, and vehicle preparation teamsReading and comprehending testing procedures and protocolsEnsure accuracy, repeatability, and adherence to established proceduresIdentify and communicate issues or inconsistencies with customer requestsMaintain a safe, organized work area and follow all safety and PPE requirementsSupport continuous improvement of measurement tools and processesQualifications\nWhat We’re Looking ForRequired:\nStrong mechanical aptitude and comfort working hands-on with vehicles\nHigh attention to detail and ability to follow defined procedures\nAbility to document work clearly and communicate technical information\nBasic computer skills and willingness to learn new software\nAbility to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment\nWillingness to work overtime as required (ample overtime available)\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nQualifications Preferred\nNot Required:\nEngineering Technology degree or related technical education, or equivalent hands-on experience\nA combination of education and experience equivalent to above\nTroubleshooting mechanical or electrical problems\nElectrical and electronic principles\nPerform operations and execute moderately complex test procedures forengineering, scientific, or real-time data acquisition\nRead and understand engineering plans and specifications\nRead drawings and troubleshoot\nMicrosoft Office\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day, including uneven surfaces\nFrequent bending, lifting, reaching, squatting, kneeling, crawling, and twisting\nAbility to work around damaged vehicles, debris, and industrial test environments\nAbility to visually identify issues and respond to safety signals\nWork Environment\nAutomotive crash test and development facility\nHands-on work with prototype and pre-production vehicles\nFast-paced environment driven by customer and test schedules\nOvertime is common and expected\nCalspan is an equal opportunity employer.
