This position will have daily communications with operators, other management personnel and supervisors, engineers, operators, contractors, laboratory technicians, mechanics, shippers/blenders, the purchasing group, and vendors. A successful candidate will be able to provide technical skill and leadership to all those reporting to the position in order to avoid unnecessary delays, expenditures, and violations. Directs all engineering and maintenance personnel. This position requires knowledge of operations and procedures along with safe industry practices. In this role you would be required to make decisions and set priorities that require evaluating potential safety and environmental risks associated with various alternatives as well as maintaining customer satisfaction and on time deliveries of the correct product.\n\nKEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nEstablishes a safety standard and ensures safety performance for the Engineering and Maintenance Department, employees and contractors by ensuring that engineering and maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with safety and environmental procedures.\nDirects work to efficiently meet or exceed operational utilization goals through sound preventative maintenance.\nMeets or exceed annual engineering department goals and capitol project expenditures while supporting plant goals and budgets.\nEnsures that training programs are created, implemented and maintained for continuous development of skills within the engineering and maintenance departments.\nContinuously seeks improvements within engineering and maintenance departments’ processes to reduce annual expenses and streamline requirements of the department.\nLeads maintenance activities of engineers and maintenance as coordinated with other departments.\nStrategize to create systems and procedures for the engineering and maintenance department employees, reduce down time and streamline where possible.\nUtilizes problem solving skills in determining more effective and efficient manners of completing maintenance and engineering projects.\nProvides direct or indirect technical support to collaborate with all plant departments (Operations, Shipping, Laboratory, Sales, Purchasing, Accounting, etc.) to determine and fulfill plant needs.\nTroubleshoots plant equipment and processes to determine solutions to problems and to improve operations.\nAssess self and personnel competencies and identifies needs and opportunities to teach proficiencies and skills or coach employees toward performance levels required to sustain a capable work force.\nEffectively communicates with all levels of employees from management to employees and co-workers.\nPromote team building within the maintenance department and while working on engineering projects.\nResolve conflicts that may arise within the course of engineering projects or within the maintenance department.\nSupports and assists in the development of plant HSEQ programs.\nWillingness and ability to relocate to, or commute on a daily basis to, Dickinson, Texas without company assistance.\nAbility to effectively manage rapid organizational changes while maintaining operational responsibility.\nProven motivational, leadership, teaching and coaching skills.\nProven knowledge of safe work practices.\nStrong operational requirements change, while realizing that solutions must be cost effective.\n\nREQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:\nLegally authorized to work for any employer in the United States now and in the future\nA minimum of 5 years experience in oil and gas industry plant operations\nSupervisory experience\n\nPREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:\nA minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering\nRisk
