This role ensures that structural integrity, sizing logic, and load paths are understood and properly represented from the outset, forming a robust foundation for the aircraft’s development.\nIn the conceptual phase, the role relies heavily on first-principles engineering and hand calculations to assess feasibility, guide sizing, and support configuration decisions. In parallel, the position defines the stress analysis methods, tools, and modelling strategies that will be used in later development phases.\nOver time, the role can evolve into building and leading the Structural Analysis capability, including stress, loads, and dynamic behaviour, ensuring a consistent and high-quality engineering approach across the program.\nResponsibilities\nLead and own the structural analysis and stress engineering activities during aircraft development\nProvide early-phase structural sizing and feasibility assessments, primarily using:Hand calculations\nFirst-principles engineering methods\n\nDefine and develop the stress analysis methodology to be used throughout the program\nEstablish and guide the use of numerical methods, ensuring they are applied appropriately and not as a substitute for engineering judgement\nSupport the definition and implementation of global finite element models (GFEM), including:Overall modelling strategy\nLoad introduction and load paths\n\nContribute to aircraft configuration trade-offs from a structural perspective\nWork closely with aerodynamics and flight physics to ensure consistency between loads, configuration, and structural sizing\nSupport and guide analysis of advanced topics, such as:Composite (CFRP) structural behaviour\nDynamic effects (e.g. flutter, authority reversal)\n\nYou will be working closely with the Aerodynamics Team, Aircraft Architect, Structural Design Lead and Cross-functional engineering teams\nRequirements\nMSc (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field\nExtensive experience in aircraft structural analysis and stress engineering\nStrong background in:Hand calculations and analytical methods\nAircraft structural sizing\n\nProven ability to apply engineering judgement beyond purely numerical tools\nExperience with finite element methods and relevant analysis tools\nSolid experience with CFRP/composite structures\nExperience working in aircraft development environments, ideally including early design phases\nPreferred Qualifications/Experience\nExperience across a full aircraft development lifecycle, from conceptual design to certification (STANAG AEP-4671, CS-23, CS-27, SC-VTOL or equivalent)\nExperience with global FEM (GFEM) setup and structural modelling strategies\nExposure to dynamic and aeroelastic topics, such as:Flutter\nAuthority reversal\nStructural dynamics\n\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive compensation and stock options\nPrivate Medical & Dental\nCycle to work scheme\nLunchtime catering on site\nAbout Us\nThe mission of Cambridge Aerospace is to eliminate the risk of existential war in Europe. That risk comes from the air: low-cost drones and cruise missiles now manufactured in colossal volumes by our adversaries, ballistic missiles capable of ending the world as we know it, and a new generation of hypersonic weapons that evade every existing defence.\nWe are building low-cost interceptors that defeat these threats, and the surveillance systems needed to detect and target them, at a cost taxpayers can afford, at the pace the threat demands and with sovereign supply chains that assure delivery.\nWe have immense backing from some of the world’s leading venture funds. We are one of the fastest-growing defence technology companies in history, and we are hiring talented people who want to develop their skills while contributing to an important mission.\nIf you are ambitious, eager to learn, willing to work hard and excited by the opportunity to build technology that addresses one of the defining challenges of our time, now is the time to join us.\nOur Commitment to Inclusion\nWe are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. If you are excited about this role but do not meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply.\nWe are interested in your practical ability, potential and willingness to learn, not whether you have followed a traditional academic career path.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4473,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"master","optional":true},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Stock options"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Civil & Structural Engineering"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-22T07:19:09Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":56,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.621,"p_room":0.9,"age_days":26,"expected_fill_days":61,"reasons":["conf:0","stale_co","velocity","win:mid"],"computed_at":"2026-10-29T05:49:05Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/cambridge-aerospace-structural-analysis-lead","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/cambridge-aerospace-structural-analysis-lead.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-29T08:55:18Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":13451,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-30T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":1966424},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=1966424"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fcambridge-aerospace-structural-analysis-lead"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fcambridge-aerospace-structural-analysis-lead"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fcambridge-aerospace-structural-analysis-lead"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/cambridge-aerospace-structural-analysis-lead\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fcambridge-aerospace-structural-analysis-lead"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3064090}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"cambridgeaerospace.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3064090},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
