Your role will a mix of hands-on engineering with real-world production and development testing.\nYou will own the development of bespoke test solutions spanning electronics, electro-mechanical systems, missile subsystems, propulsion hardware and production acceptance testing. Working closely with Product, Electronics, Systems, Manufacturing and Verification & Validation teams, you will develop automated-test-equipment (ATE), hardware-in-the-loop systems, development rigs and production test stations from initial concept through to deployment and ongoing support.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and develop bespoke automated and semi-automated test equipment from requirements capture through architecture, build, integration, commissioning and operational deployment. \nDevelop electrical, electronic and mechanical test interfaces including fixtures, harnesses, break-out equipment, instrumentation, sensors, signal conditioning, switching hardware and data acquisition systems.\nDevelop automated test sequences, control software and operator interfaces. \nImplement automated data acquisition, monitoring, pass/fail determination, traceable data capture, analysis and reporting across development and production test environments.\nDevelop production-ready end-of-line test equipment, improving throughput, reliability, maintainability and operator usability while supporting the transition of R&D rigs into controlled production systems.\nProvide technical ownership for deployed test equipment including troubleshooting, configuration control, continuous improvement, engineering standards, documentation and external supplier engagement.\nRequirements\nExperience developing automated or semi-automated test equipment, automated-test-equipment (ATE), or complex test systems within aerospace, defence, automotive, space, medical or another high-reliability engineering environment.\nProven experience taking test equipment from requirements capture and concept through to operational deployment.\nPractical knowledge of instrumentation, measurement techniques, signal integrity, sensors, DAQ systems, hardware interfaces and fault-finding.\nExperience with Dewesoft, LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, C#, MATLAB or PLC programming. \nExperience with automated sequencing, data logging, hardware control and report generation.\nAbility to derive practical test solutions from system and verification requirements.\nPreferred Qualifications/Experience\nDegree, HNC/HND, apprenticeship or equivalent professional experience in Electrical, Electronic, Software, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.\nExperience developing test equipment for missile, UAV, propulsion, avionics, electro-mechanical or other complex systems.\nExperience with hardware-in-the-loop testing (HIL), production line automation, databases, serial buses, network interfaces and test equipment lifecycle support.\nExperience designing test equipment for repeatable manufacturing use, including maintainability, operator usability, configuration control and equipment safety.\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive compensation and stock options\nPrivate Medical & Dental\nCycle to work scheme\nLunchtime catering on site\nAbout Us\nThe mission of Cambridge Aerospace is to eliminate the risk of existential war in Europe. That risk comes from the air: low-cost drones, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and hypersonic weapons that existing defence systems are too expensive, too scarce or too slow to defeat at scale.\nWe are building a new generation of low-cost interceptors and supporting systems designed to defend against those threats at a price point that allows them to be deployed in meaningful numbers. Our aim is to deliver capability quickly, build sovereign European supply chains and fundamentally change the economics of air defence. Backed by leading venture funds, Cambridge Aerospace is growing rapidly and bringing together some of the best engineers and operators to solve one of the most important technical challenges of our generation.\nIf you are in the top 1%, willing to work harder than you ever have, build technology better than anyone else, and contribute to the defining challenge of our time, now is the time to join us.\nOur Commitment to Inclusion\nWe’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We’re interested in your practical ability, potential and willingness to learn, not just a traditional academic or career path.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4700,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Stock options"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-15T01:58:01Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"GB","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"Licensed UK visa sponsor (Skilled Worker)","filings_12m":null,"filings_prev_12m":null,"green_card_filings_12m":null,"median_offered_wage_usd":null,"route":"Skilled Worker","cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-16T06:21:30+00:00","sources":["UK Home Office: register of licensed sponsors (workers)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":58,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.584,"p_room":1,"age_days":8,"expected_fill_days":28,"reasons":["conf:1","stale_co","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-16T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/cambridge-aerospace-test-equipment-development-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/cambridge-aerospace-test-equipment-development-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-16T09:13:00Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":7352,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-17T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":1966424},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=1966424"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fcambridge-aerospace-test-equipment-development-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fcambridge-aerospace-test-equipment-development-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fcambridge-aerospace-test-equipment-development-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/cambridge-aerospace-test-equipment-development-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fcambridge-aerospace-test-equipment-development-engineer"}]}
