We apply our national knowledge and leadership while leveraging the strength of regional expertise to bring experience from across the country to provide an intimate understanding of our clients’ needs.\nWe are looking for a Senior Planner to join our team in Texas.The Senior Planner is both a subject matter expert in a set of practice areas and contributes meaningfully to our clients’ strategic business decisions. As a subject matter expert, the Senior Planner collaborates with other technical leaders and project managers across business units. They both serve as a company-wide resource and lead projects or tasks in practice areas including safety; corridor planning; long-range planning; asset, performance, and risk management; and resilience and sustainability. Their expertise will inform research and influence clients’ policy, process, and strategy, including investment decisions. \nThe Senior Planner in Texas develops collaborative relationships with current and prospective public agency clients across Texas, including the Texas Department of Transportation; Metropolitan Planning Organizations, municipalities, and other public entities such as tolling agencies or port authorities. Using those relationships, they identify future policy and programming opportunities. They also build connections with our peer firms and lead teaming negotiations with other consulting firms as part of proactive and reactive marketing efforts.\nThe Senior Planner trains, manages, and mentors junior staff and motivates multidisciplinary teams and subconsultants to deliver work products on-time and within budget. \nPosition Requirements\nBachelor’s degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Policy, Transportation Economics or a related area\n15+ years of industry-related experience\n8+ years of experience managing projects and leading proposals\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint\nStrong and effective communication, presentation, and technical writing skills\nA strong professional network in the transportation industry\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nMaster’s Degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Policy, Transportation Economics or a related area\nDemonstrated project experience-current or prior-with the Texas Department of Transportation and Metropolitan Planning Organizations, including direct engagement in policy, planning, programming, or statewide transportation initiatives\nLocated in (or willing to relocate to) Texas\n5+ years of experience in public sector consulting and professional services\nCambridge Systematics is an equal opportunity employer.
