SUMMARY The Shear Operator I is responsible for the production of sheet metal parts through the operation of a shear. They are tasked with the accurate and efficient processing of various sheet metal parts, while ensuring safety and adhering to the required quality standards. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Set up and operate mechanical shear to cut stainless steel, mild steel, and other sheet metal to specified dimensions. Reads and interprets technical drawings to understand desired dimensions of the metal pieces Measure and lay out material accurately using tape measures, and other measuring tools. Verify material type, gauge/thickness, dimensions, and grain direction before cutting. Position, align, and feed sheet metal into the shear while following established machine-safety procedures.
