This position is responsible for mold changes (scheduling staff), mold process control, mold change component inventory, productivity, part quality, safety, cleanliness and organization. He/she must be able to review the daily production schedule and set priorities based on customer requirements and resources available. He/she must be able to coordinate activities with various positions and personnel in the injection molding department as well as with supporting department personnel to accomplish specific assigned goals and objectives. He/she will also be the key trainer for all new technicians in the use and setup of injection molding machines and automation. He/she will assume the role of Shift Manager in his absence including reporting to Plant Manager.\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS\nHands-on supervision (will supervise and assist with all aspect of molding).\nSupervisory responsibility for employees assigned to his/her area.\nWorks effectively as a member of a team and also autonomously, often in a supervisory role.\nWilling to learn and adapt to new methods, procedures, principles, disciplines goals and objectives.\nLeads, trains, assist in identifying equipment and motivate personnel as required.\nComplete the duties of an area supervisor specified by Cambro’s operating structure, including but not limited to (reporting, review, MOS procedures, disciplinary write-up, training and training and time studies).\nSet-up, start-up, processing, statistical process control, robotics, automation and process troubleshooting of various types of thermoplastic injection molds, machines and resins to ensure efficient production of quality products. Also may require occasional activity in material handling, blending, maintenance, assembly, packaging and inventory control.\nDirectly support management, engineering department, mold maintenance, injection scheduling and quality control departments to perform mold/material testing.\nLeads and participates in the identification, recommendation and implementation of new procedures to improve department safety, efficiency and profitability.\nCommunicates with prior and oncoming shifts to give work assignments and expectations to achieve plan.\nOrders and maintain designated tools and supplies for molding process.\nInvestigate and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work related problems.\nAssume role of Shift Manager in his absences including reporting to Plant Manager.\nInterprets company policies to employees and enforces safety regulations. Teaches policies to all shift personnel. Demonstrated ability to lead a group of people to accomplish a predetermined goal. Knowledge to perform all aspects of the utility, material handler, and all set-up technician levels. \nTen years of injection molding experience specifically in the area set-up, start-up and processing of thermoplastic injection mold. High school diploma or general education degree (GED).\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.\nAbility to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.\nAbility to calculate figures and amounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Some basic computer skills are required for documentation and record keeping of test/run data.\nAbility to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.\nAbility to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. \nReasoning ability/Communication both verbal & written\nCertificates, Licenses, Registrations\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nScientific Injection Molding, Paulson Practical Injection Molding (Advance)\nCertification for forklift desirable but not necessary.\nPrevious mechanical/electrical/hydraulics training or experience helpful\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
