The uranium produced at McArthur River is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to power a secure energy future.\nThe Role\nWorking at Cameco’s McArthur River operation and reporting to the chief engineer (maintenance), you will gain hands-on experience supporting or managing improvement projects related to communication systems, OT network systems, PLC/DCS programming, cybersecurity, and various other industrial control system improvement activities.\nIn this role, you will:\nBe mentored and work alongside control system engineers and specialists.\nSupport the research and development team’s work related to control systems.\nAssist control system engineers/specialists on their day-to-day technical activities,\nParticipate in maintenance troubleshooting and failure investigations, collaborating with external vendors and site stakeholders to identify sustainable solutions and enhance system reliability.\nSupport industrial control system cybersecurity/networking activities, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nBe involved in PLC/DCS programming, troubleshooting, and improvement activities.\n\nRequired:\nyou are entering your third or fourth year as a university student in computer or electrical engineering;\nstrong commitment to safety and safe work practices;\nwork a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft; and\nyou must be returning to school for the academic semester following your work term with Cameco.\nRecommended:\nprevious experience, coursework, or project experience related to networking, communication systems, or control systems would be considered an asset.\nConditions of Employment:\npre-employment substance test.\nCameco is an employment equity employer and aims to achieve gender parity, and as such, preference will be given to qualified members of equity groups.
