You’ll have the opportunity to grow your Kubernetes platform engineering scope over time while continuing to strengthen and modernize our current platform.\nJob Summary:\nAs a Senior Platform Engineer (Cloud Foundry and Kubernetes) in the GAP Core Engineering team within Runtime Compute, you will build, upgrade, and operate Cloud Foundry foundations at scale while automating operations through modern engineering practices. You will own technical initiatives from planning through delivery, partnering with teammates to execute safely in complex production environments. You will help reduce technical debt and improve upgrade and promotion reliability across our platform tooling. You will also take on an increasing share of Kubernetes platform engineering over time, helping translate proven Cloud Foundry operational practices to Kubernetes.\nJob Responsibilities\nBuild and maintain automation that deploys, upgrades, and operates Cloud Foundry foundations across multiple data centers\nOwn large technical initiatives end-to-end by defining the plan, establishing initial structure, and enabling team delivery\nModernize infrastructure as code and reduce technical debt in pipelines to make upgrades and promotions faster and less error-prone\nPartner with infrastructure providers on platform-impacting changes (e.g., hardware refreshes and capacity migrations) and automate the platform side of the work\nPlan and execute environment teardowns, rebuilds, and other high-risk changes with minimal disruption to application teams\nExpand Kubernetes platform engineering ownership over time and help design how existing Cloud Foundry practices carry over to Kubernetes\nMentor junior engineers and interns through pairing, code review, and hands-on troubleshooting support\nContribute actively in retrospectives and design discussions by sharing what’s working and what needs improvement\nWrite secure, high-quality production code and provide thoughtful reviews for code written by others\nUphold the firm’s standards for security, risk, and controls across platform engineering work\nRequired Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills\nHands-on expertise with Cloud Foundry, including installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting foundations at scale (open-source Cloud Foundry, VMware Tanzu Application Service, or both)\nProficiency with BOSH, including writing and debugging releases, manifests, and ops files\nProficiency with Concourse, including building and maintaining pipelines and operating Concourse\nWorking knowledge of Kubernetes, including running workloads or clusters and understanding core concepts\nExperience using Terraform for infrastructure as code\nStrong programming skills in at least one of Go, Python, or shell scripting\nStrong Linux troubleshooting skills\nExperience delivering system design, automation, testing, and operational stability for production platforms\nAbility to take on design problems independently and carry them through with minimal oversight\nDemonstrated track record of mentoring engineers and raising team capability\nClear written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical tradeoffs to audiences outside the team\nPreferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills\nExperience moving teams or workloads from Cloud Foundry to Kubernetes\nKubernetes certification (e.g., CKA or CKAD)\nExperience with Kubernetes ecosystem tooling (e.g., Helm, operators, Cluster API, or GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux)\nExperience with PKI and certificate rotation for platform control
