subject-matter experts.\nWhat you’ll do:\nPartner with business, data-scienceand technology stakeholders to translate use cases, user journeysand non-functional requirements into complete AI application designs.\n\nDesign and build full-stack AI applications, including accessible and responsive front ends, back-end services, APIs, data storesand enterprise integrations.\n\nDevelop intuitive user experiences that enable people to interact effectively with AI capabilities, review source evidence, provide feedbackand complete human-in-the-loop activities.\n\nBuild production-grade back-end services in Python and other appropriate technologies, applying modular design, separation of concerns, secure codingand reusable engineering patterns.\n\nDesign and implement REST APIs, service contracts, validation, error handling, authentication and integration patterns connecting AI solutions with enterprise systems and data sources.\n\nEngineer generative-AIand agentic solutions that combine models, retrieval, tools, APIs, business rulesand workflow components while selecting the simplest effective architecture.\n\nImplementretrieval-augmented generation and intelligent-document-processing components, including ingestion, parsing, chunking, indexing, retrieval, groundingand citation experiences.\n\nIntegrate with approved cloud and AI platform capabilities for model access, orchestration, identity, security, observabilityand deployment without duplicating shared platform ownership.\n\nDevelop automated unit, integration, end-to-end and regression tests covering application behaviour, AI interactions, API contracts, security controlsand failure conditions.\n\nContaineriseapplications and support their deployment across sandbox, development, QA, UAT and production environments in collaboration with MLOpsand platform engineering teams.\n\nDesign for performance, scalability, availability, recoverability, cost efficiency and supportability, including effective logging, tracing, telemetryand operational diagnostics.\n\nApply responsible-AI, privacy, security, model-risk and data-governance requirements throughout solution design and implementation, including guardrails, traceabilityand human oversight.\n\nProduce production-ready code, technical documentation, architecture and decision records, API specifications, test evidenceand operational runbooks.\n\nEvaluate emerging AI models, frameworks, developer toolsand vendor solutions through structured prototypes and recommend approaches based on quality, maintainability, security, costand enterprise fit.\n\nContribute reusable application components, SDKs, integration patterns, front-end elementsand engineering guidance, while providing technical leadership through design reviews, code reviewsand peer coaching.\n\nWhat you bring:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.\n\n3+ years of hands-on experience building and delivering production software applications, preferably including cloud-hosted AI or data-intensive solutions.\n\nStrong software-developmentskills in Python and at least one modern front-end frameworksuch as Reactwith the ability to build both user interfaces and back-end services.\n\nDemonstrated experience with API engineering, enterprise integration, database or storage integration, object-oriented and modular design, source controland automated testing.\n\nPractical experience with cloud-native engineeringon Microsoft Azureand Databricks, including containers, identity and access, secrets, configuration, networking, observabilityand environment management.\n\nHands-on experience integrating generative AI, large language models, retrieval or agentic capabilities into applications and business workflows.\n\nAbility to build secure, scalableand supportable solutions within enterprise architecture, responsible-AI, privacy, securityand data-governance requirements.\n\nStrong problem-solving, communicationand collaboration skills, with the ability to work across business, data science, engineering, architecture, governanceand external delivery partners.\n\nAssets:\nExperience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure Machine Learning, Document Intelligence, content understandingor comparable cloud AI services.\n\nExperience with Databricks, MLflow, Spark, Unity Catalog or Databricks generative-AIand retrieval capabilities.\n\nExperience with agent frameworks and tool-integration approaches such as Microsoft Agent Framework, Semantic Kernel, LangChain, LangGraphor MCP.\n\nKnowledge of CI/CD, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, infrastructure ascode and automated security or quality controls.\n\nExperience in financial services, insurance or another regulated industry, including claims, underwriting, fraud, knowledge managementor document-modernisationsolutions.\n\nGiven the size and scope of our organisation, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto, London, Winnipeg.\n-\nThe base salary for this position is between $85,200 - $135,200 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
