The Associate Manager, Financial Underwriting Practices will help protect and grow our insurance sales by providing financial underwriting support for large and complex new business cases.\nWith a singular focus on financial underwriting, this role supports the Director, Financial Underwriting, in the analysis and assessment of new business insurance applications.\nWhat you will do:\nComplete financial underwriting assessments for complex individual insurance cases, including independently reviewing and approving cases up to a specified threshold. \nPrepare financial recommendations, utilizing supporting documentation that will be used to influence reinsurance decisions.\nInteract with clients’ external accountants and financial advisors.\nInteract with external reinsurers and sales support teams for complex financial underwriting cases, providing documentation in a clear and concise manner to support financial justifications.\nSupport the development of internal and external financial underwriting processes and guidelines.\nReview financial underwriting marketing materials to ensure consistency with our administration and sales strategies.\nSupport advisors and wholesalers with general questions related to financial underwriting.\nPrepare technical materials to be used in presentations to advisors and internal team members on financial underwriting topics and concepts.\nWhat you will bring:\n1 to 5 years of experience in underwriting, tax planning, business valuation, consulting, or accounting roles. \nCPA designation preferred, or equivalent experience.\nAn understanding of insurance products, the insurance industry, distribution channels, advisors, and clients’ needs. \nIn-depth understanding of financial statement analysis and the principles of business valuation in a wide variety of industries.\nStrong ability to collaborate with teams across multiple disciplines.\nProven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.\nSolid technical expertise and excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish key relationships and foster strong teamwork.\nThe ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on successful outcomes.\nA demonstrated track record of driving results and contributing to process improvements.\nThe ability to translate complex technical topics into understandable solutions for non-technical audiences.\nBilingualism (English and French) would be an asset, but it is not required.\nGiven the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following office locations: London, Toronto, or Winnipeg.\n-\nThe base salary for this position is between $85,200 - $135,200 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
