What You’ll Be Doing

CIBC Capital Markets provides integrated capital markets products, investment banking advisory services, corporate lending, and top-ranked research to corporate, government, institutional, and retail clients around the world. Within this business, the Sports & Entertainment Group delivers strategic and financing solutions across the global ecosystem, including professional sports teams and leagues, venues and stadiums, sports-related businesses, and institutional and private investors. As an Associate, Global Investment Banking, you'll work with Managing Directors, Executive Directors, Directors, Associates, and Analysts to help expand CIBC's presence across sports, media, entertainment, infrastructure, and related markets. You'll contribute to live transactions and advisory projects through financial modelling, structuring, research, client coordination, and execution support. In this lean and entrepreneurial team, you'll take on meaningful responsibility, mentor Analysts, and build your experience through hands-on exposure to complex client mandates.

How You’ll Succeed

• Transaction execution - Support the execution of live financing and advisory mandates by preparing analysis, coordinating workstreams, and contributing to high-quality client deliverables.
• Financial analysis and modelling - Develop detailed financial models, conduct valuation and feasibility analysis, and assess opportunities for both existing clients and new mandates.
• Client coordination - Build and maintain contact with clients throughout the due diligence process, gather and share information, and help keep transactions moving efficiently.
• Team leadership and development - Provide guidance to Analysts by supporting their development in financial modelling, transaction execution, and investment banking best practices.
• Research and market insights - Conduct industry, company, and comparative analysis to inform client discussions and deepen the team's understanding of developments across sports, media, entertainment, infrastructure, and related sectors.
• Presentation and partnership support - Prepare proposals and presentation materials, and collaborate with partners across CIBC to develop financing solutions aligned to client needs.

Who You Are

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate finance, capital markets, transaction execution, or a related advisory environment.
• You have strong investment banking fundamentals. You bring advanced financial modelling, valuation, financial statement analysis, credit analysis, and accounting knowledge to support complex client work.
• You're a strong executor with sound judgment. You manage multiple priorities, work effectively under pressure, and make thoughtful decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• You're an effective communicator and relationship builder. You can work confidently with clients and internal partners, and you communicate complex information clearly and professionally.
• You're skilled at coaching others. You support team success by mentoring junior colleagues and helping elevate the quality and consistency of deliverables.
• You bring strong technical proficiency. You have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, and can quickly adapt to new tools and platforms.
• You're interested in the sector. Prior experience in, or demonstrated interest in, the business and economics of sports, media, entertainment, infrastructure, and related sectors is considered an asset.

California residents - your privacy rights regarding your actual or prospective employment At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $175,000-$225,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
