As a key member of the Maintenance Team, the Electrical & Instrumentation Planner will contribute to the overall success of the Upgrading and Utilities (U2) business unit by keeping backlog work orders on time with realistic and achievable planning initiatives. The role will participate in the overall development of the U2 Maintenance Plan, while ensuring that all Maintenance Planning activities in U2 support the wider business needs of Horizon Oil Sands Operations.\nJob location: Horizon Oil Sand - Fort McMurray, Alberta\nShift schedule: 4x3, Monday - Thursday, 10-hour shifts\nSafety sensitive position: Yes\nApplication deadline: October 20, 2026\nKey Accountabilities:\nPlan and develop detailed E&I maintenance work packages, including scope definition, resource planning, scheduling, and execution support\nCoordinate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, vendors, and other stakeholders to validate work scopes and ensure successful execution\nManage work orders and maintenance backlogs, prioritizing tasks while maintaining accurate records, cost tracking, and data integrity\nConduct field assessments, define job steps, create BOMs, identify materials and services, and manage procurement requirements\nSupport outages, turnarounds, major maintenance projects, and the commissioning of new equipment through effective planning and PM setup\nEnhance equipment reliability and safety by integrating safety reviews, supporting preventive maintenance programs, and developing safe work practices\nDrive continuous improvement in maintenance planning, CMMS processes, inventory management, and provide coaching to junior planners\nWhat You Bring to the Role:\nTypically 5+ years of related industry experience with interprovincial red seal in Electrical and/or Instrumentation, Technical Diploma, University Degree or equivalent\nPlanning certification and proactive leadership would be an asset\nExpertise in:Electrical & Instrumentation Planning\nMaintenance planning in an upgrader, refinery or other industrial plant setting \nPlanning, budgeting and estimation\nMaximo or equivalent CMMS and Microsoft Office Suite\nWorking in a fast-paced environment with a proactive mindset\nExcellent organization, time
