The primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces, the New England region of the United States, and Bermuda. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products; including, bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq. ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. In Bedford, Nova Scotia.\nIn addition to our precast facilities, Strescon opened a state of the art, 32,000 sq. ft. pipe plant in 2001, manufacturing concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.\nWe are seeking a Lead Hand to join our Bedford Precast Plant team. This will be a Working Team Lead role as they will be working alongside the crews to complete the tasks. Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, the Lead Hand is responsible for providing daily leadership, direction, and support to production employees while actively participating in plant operations. This role is critical to ensuring a safe, productive, and quality-focused work environment.\nResponsibilities\nLead and coordinate daily activities of production crews to meet manufacturing schedules and deadlines. \nPromote and uphold a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations. \nAssign work, monitor progress, and support employees in achieving production targets. \nWork alongside crews in plant to complete tasks including concrete finishing, setting up forms, cleaning forms and other tasks required\nProvide hands-on training, coaching, and mentorship to team members. \nEnsure products are manufactured in accordance with quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements. \nCommunicate production priorities and operational updates to crew members and supervisors. \nAssist in troubleshooting production challenges and implementing corrective actions. \nMonitor material usage, equipment performance, and workforce productivity. \nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. \nCollaborate with Production, Quality Control, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to improve operational efficiency. \nSupport continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to enhance productivity and quality.\n\nRequirements\nMust have own transportation, no public transportation available\nGood attendance and a positive attitude\nExperience in a manufacturing, construction, industrial, or precast concrete environment. \nPrevious leadership experience as a Lead Hand, Team Lead, Foreperson, or Supervisor is preferred. \nStrong commitment to workplace health and safety. \nExcellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. \nAbility to lead by example and foster a collaborative team environment. \nAbility to read and interpret shop drawings, production schedules, and work instructions is considered an asset. \nExperience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, or other industrial equipment is considered an asset. \nMechanical aptitude and understanding of precast concrete manufacturing processes are considered assets. \nAbility to perform physically demanding work in an industrial setting.\nAs a member of the OSCO Construction Group, Strescon Limited offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package including health and dental coverage, life insurance and RRSP options.
