A day in the life of the Operations Manager includes:
- Champion Canfor's Safety Comes First culture and ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and operational teams to achieve business objectives.
- Optimize production, recovery, quality, and operational efficiency across the mill.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a culture of accountability and performance.
- Support business planning, budget management, cost control, and operational strategy execution.
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and support teams to improve reliability and overall mill performance.
- Build strong relationships across the operation while fostering employee engagement and development.
For this role come equipped with the following:
- 5+ years of leadership experience in wood products manufacturing or a similar industrial environment.
- Strong commitment to safety leadership and operational excellence.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive continuous improvement.
- Sound knowledge of sawmill operations, production processes, and cost management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and an understanding of business and financial principles.
