This position will work closely with plant personnel to maximize overall efficiency and effectiveness of the EHS program. Additionally, this manager is responsible for all external communications with regulators, acts as the primary interface between the enforcement agencies and the plant operations. The Manager will interact with community interest groups, contractors, and consultants on a routine basis. This individual must demonstrate the ability to lead and influence operations staff not under their direct supervision. The position reports directly to the Director of EHS, has 1 direct report, and has the responsibility to lead the implementation and evaluation of critical EHS processes, programs, and procedures to achieve goals, objectives, and continuous improvements related to compliance as well as risk reduction.\nEssential Functions/Key Deliverables\nDefine plant EHS goals to align with corporate business objectives.\nDevelop and implement Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and systems.\nEnsure ongoing compliance with local law and regulations and requirements regarding occupational health and safety, environmental as well as Group standards.\nMaintain conformity with internal instructions and procedures as well as environmental monitoring with the requirements of environmental permits.\nEnsure legislative changes are communicated and reflected in local policies and procedures.\nDevelop and implement risk assessments.\nAssist in the completion of investigations related to environmental and safety incidents, and the completion of corrective actions. \nDevelop health programs in line with sickness/absence prevention and improving employee welfare.\nLiaise with environmental and occupational health and safety officials as required.\nExecute and/or oversee routine inspections, audits, and drills within the plant. \nConduct and ensure the delivery and tracking of all awareness and compliance training for employees within the facility that covers emergency procedures, workplace safety, environmental expectations and to include other relevant topics. \nLiaise with management team, particularly engineering, to ensure that activities of contractors conform to all legislative requirements and with production departments, logistics, and the warehouse to ensure proper waste management.\nProvide support and guidance to the management team and employees on matters of health and safety and environment.\nCommunicate relevant EHS expectations to the workforce.\nContinually review, update and maintain EHS documentation and management systems, including training records, training materials, policies and procedures, operating manuals and other relevant documentation to demonstrate compliance with required federal, state, and local recordkeeping requirements, as well as all required external submission reports.\nReview, monitor and report on local performance in Health, Safety and Environmental matters.\nEnsure first responders are in place and training is up to date.\nSet up and maintain the joint hourly/salary health and safety committee.\nAssist with the implementation and maintenance of plant internal assessment program.\nEnsure an effective contractor safety program is developed and executed.\nProvide regular status reports to the Director of EHS and the Plant Manager.\nLead employee engagement efforts including oversight of committees and assessment processes.\nOccasionally travel to other company business units as a member of an assessment team or to serve as a subject matter expert for resolution of a particular issue.\nPerform other tasks reasonably corresponding with the role, as directed.\nKnowledge/Skills/Experience\nBS in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field from an accredited university is required.\nA minimum of 10 years of experience supporting Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance programs in industrial operations.\nProfessional certifications preferred.\nHigh volume consumer-product manufacturing experience is preferred. \nStrong leadership skills with ability to establish meaningful objectives and hold teams accountable for execution. \nMust have strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations as well as relevant consensus standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA).\nProactive, highly organized and committed to continuous improvement.\nAbility to handle sensitive and confidential matters.\nWorkers’ Compensation Claims and Return-To-Work Program Management Experience.\nIncident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis Experience.\nMust have established interpersonal skills with a proven ability to reach consensus.\nExperience with Air Permitting (Title V), NPDES, Wastewater Discharge, Water Appropriation, Hazardous Waste Management and Disposal, SPCC, FRP, and Spill Response. \nKnowledge and experience with ISO 45001 and 14001 management system implementation and certification.\nAn ability to develop and adapt strategies with respect to environmental and safety performance.\nExcellent communication skills with all stakeholders and audiences, and a strong ability to represent business interests to 3rd parties.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office (PPT, Excel, Word).\nPhysical Demands\nN (Not Applicable) Activity is not applicable to this position.\nO (Occasionally) Position requires this activity up to 33% of the time (0 -
