This hands-on development role combines core backend engineering with the practical application of AI to enhance existing systems, automate business processes and improve operational efficiency.\nYou'll collaborate with business and technology teams to deliver reliable, maintainable solutions, taking accountability for technical outcomes and adapting to evolving requirements. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, demonstrates technical curiosity and can quickly become effective in unfamiliar technology environments.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDesign, develop and maintain scalable backend applications and services using Java and/or Python, applying sound engineering principles and modern architectural practices.\n\nBuild, integrate and enhance AI-powered workflows and automation solutions within existing enterprise applications and business processes.\n\nDevelop REST APIs, backend services and system integrations that connect applications, AI capabilities and business workflows across financial services environments.\n\nLeverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin or equivalent technologies to support coding, testing, debugging and engineering productivity.\n\nManage technical deliverables from design through implementation, collaborating with business and technology stakeholders to solve complex problems, maintain code quality and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\nIdeally 6+ years of hands-on backend development experience using Java and/or Python, with flexibility for candidates who demonstrate equivalent technical expertise and capabilities.\n\nSolid understanding of backend architecture, REST APIs, microservices, system integrations and modern software engineering practices.\n\nPractical experience creating, integrating or automating AI-powered workflows within enterprise applications and business processes, beyond simply using AI coding assistants.\n\nFamiliarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin or equivalent platforms.\n\nDemonstrated ability to manage technical deliverables, solve complex problems, adapt to unfamiliar technology environments and learn new technologies effectively.\n\nBonus Points For\nExperience delivering technology solutions within Lending, Structured Finance or Securitization.\nExposure to Generative AI, AI agents, LLM integration or AI workflow orchestration technologies.\n\nExperience developing backend applications within banking, capital markets or other regulated financial services environments.\n\nExperience collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into reliable, maintainable technical solutions\nFamiliarity with enterprise application architectures, distributed systems and integrating AI or automation capabilities into existing technology platforms.\n\nInclusion at Capco\nWe're committed to making our recruitment process accessible and straightforward for everyone.
