Based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Canberra, you will design, develop, and implement enterprise-scale API gateway solutions, helping clients modernise their integration platforms across both greenfield and brownfield environments. Deep hands-on experience with the Kong platform is essential.\nAs a trusted technical advisor, you will work closely with enterprise customers to guide the implementation, deployment, and adoption of Kong technologies. You'll collaborate with stakeholders ranging from developers and architects through to executive leadership, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and deliver long-term business value.\nThis is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects across a range of industries, including Australian Government and other highly regulated environments. You'll have the chance to shape best practices, influence solution design, and contribute to the successful delivery of cutting-edge API and integration platforms.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead the design, implementation, deployment, and adoption of Kong API Gateway solutions for enterprise customers.\nFacilitate technical workshops and provide architecture guidance across API, integration, security, and platform domains.\nDeliver hands-on engineering, configuration, and troubleshooting for Kong platform implementations.\nCollaborate with architects, developers, business stakeholders, and operations teams to ensure successful project outcomes.\nDefine and promote best practices, governance standards, security controls, and reusable automation frameworks.\nContribute to thought leadership through technical documentation, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nYour Profile\nAustralian Citizen with an active AGSVA Baseline clearance or higher.\n8+ years' experience delivering enterprise integration platforms and services.\n5+ years' hands-on experience with API Gateway/API Management solutions, preferably Kong.\nProven experience in large-scale, regulated enterprise environments.\nStrong hands-on experience with Kong API Gateway, API integrations, and Kong Konnect.\nSolid understanding of APIs, microservices, and API-led integration architectures.\nExperience with Kubernetes, containers, Terraform, decK, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.\nStrong knowledge of DevOps, networking, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).\nExperience implementing API security controls including OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, and mTLS.\nProficiency with Linux and cloud-native technologies.\nExperience working within Agile and/or Waterfall delivery environments.\nExcellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage technical and executive audiences.\nWhat you’ll love about working here\nYou will be a part of a diverse collective of free-thinkers, entrepreneurs, and industry experts.
