In this role, you will apply industrial design thinking and strong real-time 3D CAD skills to develop mechanical hardware from concept through production release. You will work closely with engineering, product, and manufacturing counterparts in the United States, contributing designs that balance form, function, manufacturability, and field durability.\nIn this role, you will:\nDevelop mechanical designs from concept sketches through detailed 3D models, drawings, and production release.\nApply industrial design principles - ergonomics, human factors, serviceability, proportion, and product aesthetics - to hardware that operates in demanding field environments.\nBuild and maintain parametric 3D CAD models and large assemblies, working in real time within a cloud-based CAD environment shared across geographies.\nProduce manufacturing-ready detail drawings with GD&T, tolerances, bills of material, and engineering change documentation.\nApply design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) principles to reduce part count, cost, and assembly time.\nCreate concept alternatives, renderings, and design studies to support early decision-making and design reviews.\nDevelop enclosures, brackets, mounts, guards, covers, and operator-facing hardware in sheet metal, machined, molded, and fabricated forms.\nMaintain CAD data hygiene, part numbering, revision control, and design libraries in line with team standards.\nYour Profile\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.\n5 to 7 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in automation, robotics, automotive, industrial equipment, or heavy machinery.\nStrong industrial design skills with experience in concept development, product appearance, ergonomics, and hardware design.\nProficient in 3D CAD tools, preferably On shape; experience with SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or NX is also valuable.\nExperience working in large CAD assemblies with multiple users while maintaining proper version control and configurations.\nGood knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawing standards (ASME Y14.5 or ISO).\nUnderstanding of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, casting, extrusion, and injection molding.\nStrong English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly document and explain designs.\nSelf-motivated and capable of managing tasks independently with minimal supervision.\nGood understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.\nWhat You’ll Love About Working Here\nWe value flexibility and support our employees with remote work options and adaptable schedules to maintain a healthy work-life balance.\nOur inclusive culture brings together diverse professionals committed to growth, innovation, and excellence.\nYou’ll have access to continuous learning opportunities and certifications in emerging technologies like cloud and AI.\nAt Capgemini Engineering, the world leader in engineering services, we bring together a global team of engineers, scientists, and architects to help the world’s mostinnovative companies unleash their potential.
