About the Team

Retail Bank is seeking a highly strategic and technically deep Senior Director of Product to lead our platform teams, with a specific, critical focus on building our next-generation automated fraud defense engine. As the threat landscape rapidly evolves with fraudsters deploying agentic AI to mount continuous, scaled attacks, this individual will be central to our defense strategy, defining the long-term vision for our destination fraud decisioning platform.

The Senior Director of Product will evaluate how the decisioning platform engine converges with or works alongside enterprise infrastructure and map out the architectural path to make that integration a reality. This individual will champion new technology, scale a high-performing team, and drive multi-year strategic planning to build an unprecedented, unified defense ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Impact, Vision & Platform Convergence

• Define the multi-year vision and long-term strategy for our destination fraud decisioning platform, aligning with enterprise directives on destination architectures
• Evaluate, architect, and execute the strategy for converging our fraud platforms with Decisioning 2.0; determine if and how these platforms merge to create a unified, real-time decisioning ecosystem
• Champion the application of novel LLM and agentic AI capabilities to build an automated fraud defense engine with solving an industry-wide problem in a fundamentally new way
• Drive clarity across a highly complex, ambiguous problem scope spanning anomaly detection, trend inferencing from fraud/claims, investigations, policy creation, optimization, testing, and lifecycle management
• Contribute to multi-year strategic planning and directly influence budget allocation to support this critical defense infrastructure

Team & Organizational Leadership

• Step in to provide the required problem-solving, technical acumen, and influence to drive critical work toward a Proof of Concept (POC) in the next few quarters
• Mentor existing manager-level PMs and scale the organization to delivery and maintain an automated fraud defense engine
• Take direct accountability for developing managerial talent, fostering a high-performing culture, and ensuring operational excellence across the platform organization

Technical Complexity & Delivery

• Oversee and align with 10 + technical and sprint teams to build and scale the platform
• Lead the vision and strategy setting for complex architectural builds across multiple systems and processes. Navigate and align on the future path for destination platforms
• Develop and execute a multi-year, phased approach to technical delivery, transitioning the organization from days-to-weeks manual defense updates to real-time, automated adaptations

Stakeholder Complexity & Enterprise Expansion

• Navigate a highly complex internal stakeholder landscape, driving alignment across the business
• Expand the scope and capabilities of the defense engine horizontally to support other LOBs inside and outside the Bank (e.g., SBB, Card, Marketing)
• Partner with VP+ stakeholders across at least 4 to 5 different organizations or LOBs, and manage critical relationships with significant external vendors and partners

Governance & Risk Management

• Ensure platform capabilities enables our tenants to meet regulatory requirements
• Understand and collaborate with partners to manage model and credit decision risks and implications
• Ensure auditability of future automated fraud defense platform

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in any field and at least 7 years of Product Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience translating complex business strategy and technical challenges into a clear, data-driven product roadmap
• 3+ years of experience building and leading teams of product managers
• 3+ years of experience in innovative technology environments
• 3+ years of experience building business-critical AI and Machine Learning products
• 1+ year of Fraud and Cyber Security experience
• Strong communication skills with a track record of engaging and influencing senior executives
• Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and risk management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
